Wood Windows can be crafted in your Crafting Menu (opened by typing "Q" as the default key), after the according crafting-recipe has been unlocked by
- crafting (or taking) a Forge made from (blocks of) Bedrock, Wood Slabs and Stone Slabs
- crafting a Wood Door from any kind of Wood or Logs, Beeswax and Vines
- creating Glass from Sand in a Forge
To craft 4 Wood Windows at a time, you'll need (as of R34 in December 2016):
- 1 Stone Rod made of Stone, Limestone or Bedrock in a Processor
- 4 (blocks of) Glass made of Sand in a Forge
- 4 Wood Rods made of any kind of Wood (except for corrupted wood) or Logs in a Processor
Crafting Wood Windows is one of the unlocking requirements of the crafting recipe for Stone Windows.
Currently Wood Windows cannot be found in any Treasure Chests nor can they be obtained from any Creatures.
If you place Wood Windows next to each other side by side, they will "combine" to a larger window as can be seen on the according picture in this article.
Since R44 windows can now be fully rotated.
Different from doors, windows cannot be wired, opened nor locked.
Attention: Wood Windows are flammable! Be careful when placing Wood Windows into hot environments like Savannahs and letting them touch fire or fiery blocks (like Hardened Lava), as that could ignite them. Liquid Lava and Fire Bombs will immediately set them on fire.
If Wood Windows start burning, also other inflammable blocks nearby can catch fire, and this way even a whole forest (especially Jungles, Parchwood and Shorewood) or a wooden house can burn down in the worst case in warm to hot biomes.
Fire can be "extinguished" currently (as of R38 in January 2017) by claiming the area and disabling the options for fire spreading or disabling the fire spreading option for the whole world. The spreading of fire can alternatively be stopped by quickly creating forest aisles/swaths wide enough so the flames cannot leap over. Water or other Liquids cannot extinguish fire though.
Since update R33 2/3 you cannot burn flammable blocks like Wood Windows on claims by default, and fire also will not spread on claims - however this option can be toggled by the owner of the claims.
