This article is from 2017 and somehow outdated.

Basic Information[]

Trog Trap events are seasonal events that can be started by placing Trog Traps. These special "summoning" items can be obtained for ca. one month around Christmas. The rewards for the events, should their objectives be met successfully, will include Rescued Toys that can be used as Trade Items to buy seasonal items and rare crafting Recipes for winter-themed blocks and objects from randomly spawning NPCs called Elfis.

How to obtain and use Trog Traps[]

During the Christmas event Elfi's Toy Drive, instead of the usual daily Login Chests, one Christmas-specific Trog Trap Login Chest can be claimed/unlocked every 4 hours from the main game screen (before entering a game world). These Trog Trap Login Chests can then be claimed on any game world from the inventory ("bundles") and will always contain 2 Small Trog Traps plus additional useful stuff that is very similar to common Login Chest contents.

These Small Trog Traps can be placed and will then immediately start timed winter-themed events. The specific event goals differ and are described by onscreen messages (see below for more detailed information). If the announced goal is successfully reached within the set timespan, a Reward Holiday Gift Box will appear afterwards at or next to the spot that the Trog Trap had originally been placed.

The Reward Holiday Gift Boxes for Small Trog Trap (Tier 1) events will randomly contain a few Rescued Toys, useful consumables like Food and/or Potions, uncommon materials, Excavators and/or Extractors of different kinds plus nearly always also 1 Medium Trog Trap.

These Medium Trog Traps can be placed again to immediately start Tier 2 Trog Trap events. Tier 2 events are very similar to Small Trog Trap events, just slightly more difficult. Additional Medium Trog Traps can also optionally be bought from the Store for Coins. The Holiday Trap Pack contains 10 of these traps, the Ultimate Holiday Trap Pack contains 40 Medium Trog Traps. However, the Store will only offer these Trap Packs during Christmas event-times.

The Reward Holiday Gift Boxes for Medium Trog Trap events contain even more Rescued Toys and the same random useful stuff like the tier 1 Reward Holiday Gift Boxes, just in higher numbers, as well as (randomly) often 1 Large Trog Trap. 10 Large Trog Traps can also be bought in the Store as parts of the Ultimate Holiday Trap Pack, but only during Christmas event-times.

Additionally, some of the Creatures appearing during these event (mainly "Minions") might sometimes drop Holiday Loot Bags with random winter-themed special content like Snowcubes, Rescued Toys and an assortment of useful items and/or consumables; but no Trog Traps.

Large Trog Traps (Tier 3) can once more be placed to immediately start the most difficult winter-themed events. The Reward Holiday Gift Boxes for these high(est) tier Trog Trap events contain even more Rescued Toys and the assortment of useful items in larger amounts, plus sometimes Medium Trog Traps too.

Again, some of the Creatures appearing during these tier 3 event (mainly Minions and Troggington himself) will sometimes drop Holiday Loot Bags with random winter-themed special content like Snowcubes, Rescued Toys and an assortment of useful items and/or consumables.

What to do with Rescued Toys[]

As long as the Christmas event is ongoing (like the last one has from December 13th 2017 to January 10th 2018), several Elfis will randomly spawn on a pile of presents during day and night on blocks of Snow and Ice, rarely also on other types of blocks that have been placed on top of Snow or Ice blocks. Players will be able to find Elfis by following the green Leafi symbol on their compass that pops up whenever an Elfi appears within a certain distance. By travelling the land especially in cold Biomes like frozen Oceans, Taigas, snow-covered Tundras or Mountains, players can make more Elfis spawn

Players can "activate" Elfis just like Pets, Storage Chests, Crafting Stations, Doors etc. by pointing the cursor at them, clicking their right mouse button or typing "f" (as the default key). Players can then trade in their Rescued Toy for a number of Christmas-themed rare (tradeable) Recipes and/or Christmas-themed items. Among the many tradeable items you can find rare Jingle Juice and Blizzard Potions - these two potions can not be crafted, they can only be collected by trading them from Elfis that appear during Christmas event-times, just like Bat Juice and Marigold Potions could only be traded from The Great Pumpkirus and Pumpkiru Jr.s during Halloween event-times.

known Trog Trap Events[]

As soon as a Trog Trap is placed onto the ground, an event will immediately begin. Often the sky and air around the Trog Trap will turn blue all by itself and it will start to snow as long as this particular event lasts. Once placed, Trog Traps cannot be deactivated and they cannot be wired to be activated at a later time.

One of several optional events will be randomly chosen. The main assumption is that the Trog Trap captures Troggington (who has stolen Christmas gifts from Elfis) as soon as the trap closes, and the events are enemy strategies to free Troggington from the trap.

If the player/s fail/s to reach the objective of the specific event, the onscreen messages explain that Troggington has managed to escape from the trap. If the objective is met successfully, Troggington is forced to leave a Reward Holiday Gift Box each that will contain Rescued Toys that Troggington has stolen and could not get away with, together with other useful random items.

The initiated seasonal events can be played alone or together as a team of players. The patch notes claim that the rewards for these events are "instanced" so that everyone who participates in the event should get their own Reward Holiday Gift Box. These reward containers look like typical Holiday Gifts, but have different contents. They very often do not appear exactly at the same spot where the Trog Trap has been placed, but on a random adjacent block.

All Creatures and objects (poles, targets, piles of snowcubes, reward gift boxes, etc.) that will be summoned by a Trog Trap will be indicated on your compass as one symbol each.

Few of the Trog Trap Event Creatures that players sometimes have to kill during the events will rarely drop special Loot Bags that will contain items and Rescued Toys similar to the content of spawning Holiday Gifts.

Arctic Event Mirus that appear for Snowball Fight events are vulnerable only to Snowcubes and can eliminated by these throwables, but are immune to physical damage dealt by any melee Weapon. All the other of the Trog Trap Event Creatures that can be killed with Weapons are immune to elemental damage, but they can usually be stunned with Stun Bombs and pushed away with Snowcubes and Force Bombs.

Tip: choose a place to build an arena for these events somewhere in your game world where nothing else (or at least not much else) has been built or changed underground to avoid lags. Building the arena high up or floating over an ocean is recommended, because in this case you can build a smaller platform that will make it easier to complete some of the events (mainly "Snow 2 Go" and "Present Danger"). Rumors say that building a platform of 17x17 blocks very high up (30 blocks away from everything else) might force all creatures, poles and loot boxes directly in the middle where you should also place the trap.

Snowball Turrets are immensely helpful with events types that require throwing Snowcubes ("Snowball Fight" and "Snowball Target Practice"). Do not place the turrets for too long in advance, but only at the beginning of the events and pick them up as soon as the event is over before they will vanish so you can re-use them. When using Snowball Turrets, make sure that no common Creatures will stay in the arena or within view of sight, nor let common Creatures enter the arena during the events, since the Turrets would waste their (infinite) Snowcubes on these Creatures in that case instead of shooting at Arctic Mirus and/or targets.

More Tips: as usual, wear your best armor, equip your best weapon for "King of the Chill", "Get to the Capture" and "Troggington Fights Back". You can use Explosives like Armor-Piercing Bombs, Explosive Bombs and the like too (very recommendable) for these events when fighting the "Minions".

Also do not forget to prepare health regenerating Potions or Food, for example Mushroom Sandwiches that will grant health regeneration and a bonus on your maximum health points for 15 minutes. While the Tier 1 events "Pining for you" and "Snow 2 go" are completely harmless, you might rarely be hit by Blizzard Chizzards during "Ice Spy" events and even by targets during "Snowball Target Practice".

It is advisable to also put a stack of Advanced Health Potions into your quickbar, then select this slot and use right-click to drink a healing potion during the fight whenever your player character has been hit hard. This might happen during Tier 2 and Tier 3 combat events, especially "King of the Chill", "Get to the Capture" and "Troggington Fights Back".

While the new Jingle Juice also grants health regeneration for 10 minutes and seemingly some sort of cold resistance (not immunity though), it cannot be crafted, but only traded from Elfis.

First-level events initiated by Small Trog Traps[]

Every Creativerse player can take 2 Small Trog Traps ca. every 4 hours from another free claimable Trog Trap Login Chest as long as the event Elfi's Toy Drive is ongoing. After the end of the event, any Trog Traps that are still left or can be obtained in any way after the Christmas event will most likely keep on working like they use to now.

As soon as players manage to accomplish the given event goal, a special Tier 1 Reward Holiday Gift Box will appear that will contain ca. 6-12 Rescued Toys, nearly always 1 Medium Trog Trap plus usually 2 stacks of a few random consumables, materials and/or items like: 1-5 Basic Health Potions, 1-2 Speed Potions, 1-2 Health Regeneration Potions, 1-2 Freeze Resistance Potions, 1-2 Advanced Health Potions, 1-2 Crystal Shards, 1-2 Infused Crystals, 1-2 Fire Bombs, 1-2 Freeze Bombs, 1-2 Force Bombs, 1-2 Basic Extractors, 1-2 Advanced Extractors, 1-2 Basic Excavators, 1-2 Advanced Excavators, 1-2 Super Excavators, 1-2 Questionable Jerkys, 1-2 Blizzard Chizzard Eggs, 1-2 Gingerbread Loaves, 1-2 Frigid Pies, 1-2 Frigid Sandwiches, 1-2 Frigid Soups, 1-2 Arctek Lanterns, 1-2 Grand Arctek Lanterns and/or other items like that.

Known Small Trog Trap events[]

Ice Spy (Tier 1) with 3 spies[]

Three waves of 4-6 Creatures - only Leafies and Blizzard Chizzards wearing Pet Accessories - will spawn one after another within a certain proximity around the Small Trog Trap. The first wave often consists of 4, the second of 5 and the third wave of 6 Creatures altogether. One of these Creatures of each wave has to be identified and killed. Onscreen messages will tell you which type of Creature the "spy" is that you should kill, and which type of hat and/or bow tie the spy is wearing (sometimes spies will wear only one of these accessories). During the easy Tier 1 events, spies most often wear pointed red and white Holiday Pet Hats. Tier 1 events will give you ca. 1 minute to defeat all 3 spies.

Tip: first look for the type of Creature with the specific hat that you need to find (Leafi or Blizzard Chizzard), or check for Creatures that do not wear any hats if this is the description of the spy, then check for the bow ties because these are more difficult to spot.

Spies require 3 hits with any weapon, no matter if a Lumite Sword, Diamond Sword, Iron Sword, Obsidian Sword, Stone Sword, Wood Sword or even an indestructible Twig (that doesn't lose durability) to be eliminated. Different from the red ghostly Creatures that spawned during the Halloween-events of Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign, the "spies" will reduce the durability of the melee weapon that you'll use to fight them though. Spies do not ever seem to drop any Loot Bags of their own.

In Tier 1 Ice Spy events, Leafis will attempt to flee without fighting back, but Blizzard Chizzards will defend themselves when being attacked and are occasionally able to deal cold damage over time for ca. 9 seconds. Often, Blizzard Chizzard spies are the ones that do not wander around, but stay at their spot. Red icons on the compass will show you where all the Creatures are, but will not point out the spy itself.

Snowball Fight (Tier 1 in 4 waves)[]

First, several piles of 3-4 Snowcubes each will appear at once within a certain proximity around the Small Trog Trap so you can collect them. When collecting them all, you should be provided with ca. 30-40 Snowcubes. These staples are indicated on your compass with distinctive icons looking like very small Snowcube piles. Ca. 15 seconds later, the first of four waves consisting of ca. 3-6 Arctic event Mirus (most often 5) wearing dark blue holiday hats will spawn. Even though 5 waves of Mirus are announced, only 4 waves will actually spawn.

You are supposed to hit all of the Arctic event Mirus with well-aimed Snowcubes, thrown from a stack of Snowcubes in your quickbar by clicking your right mouse button. Try to defeat of them all within the time span that is displayed on screen. For Tier 1 events you will have usually a bit more than 1 minute starting with the spawning of the first wave. But be careful, since these special Arctic event Mirus can throw Snowcubes at you too from a distance (different from their common non-event brethren that can only use close combat attacks). Their hits will push your player character upwards and back, as well as deal cold damage over time for 4 seconds - or even longer if several of their Snowcubes are able to hit you.

Tip: prepare any kind of health regenerating Potion or Food that you can consume when this event starts; for example Mushroom Sandwiches. Eating a Frigid Soup, Frigid Sandwich or Frigid Pie (occasionally found in Reward Holiday Gift Boxes) is the second best alternative, since this will reverse any cold damage taken into healing over time.

In general it's always recommended to prepare at least one stack of Advanced Health Potions in your quickbar and also prepare a stack of Snowcubes even before starting any Trog Trap events. To craft Snowcubes, simply put blocks of Snow into a Processor.

Another Tip: Placing Snowball Turrets on the ground during this event is very recommended, they are of great help with events like this one (and even more for "Snowball Target Practice"s).

You can buy Snowball Turrets from Elfis that spawn in cold biomes during the Christmas event (like from December 13th 2017 to January 10th 2018), 5 Snowball Turrets will "cost" 50 Rescued Toys. Pick the Turrets up before 90 seconds are over, then you can re-use them! Snowball Turrets have become craftable after the third reward bundle of Elfi's Community Toy Drive was unlocked with 25 million Toys on January 3rd 2018, but only for players who have then claimed the Snowball Turret Bundle until January 10th 2018.

Trog Trap event Mirus are vulnerable only to Snowcubes (the very opposite of common Arctic Mirus that are completely immune against cold damage, and also different from Miru Minions for Trog Trap Events of higher tiers).

Try to hit the upper part of these Arctic event Mirus (different from when you're throwing Explosives at Creatures), since you might miss the event Mirus easily if you aim too low. It seems like these Arctic event Mirus do not always take damage, like during the second while they are spawning, and sometimes while they throw a Snowcube themselves. Unfortunately they never seem to drop any Loot Bags, just like the Creatures during the "Ice Spy" events.

Moreover, Trog Trap Arctic event Mirus won't show their names if you point your cursor at them. If you hit them with melee weapons or common Explosives, they will not take any damage at all. However, these Arctic event Mirus can actually hit and eliminate each other with their Snowcubes by accident when aiming straight at you, so you might be able to use this to your advantage by running around them and making them get into each other's way. Again, red compass markers will show you where each Arctic event Miru is positioned.

Snowball Target Practice (Tier 1 with large targets)[]

First, several piles of 3-4 Snowcubes each will appear at once within a certain proximity around the Small Trog Trap so you can collect your "weapons". When collecting them all, you should be provided with ca. 25-30 Snowcubes (less than for "Snowball Fight"). Snowcube piles are indicated on your compass with their own small icons again. Ca. 15 seconds later, the first of eight waves consisting of ca. 1-4 red-and-white target (most often 2). These targets for tier 1 have large discs and are one-sized, close to the ground.

You are supposed to hit all of the targets with well-aimed Snowcubes, thrown from a stack of Snowcubes in your quickbar by clicking your right mouse button. Try to hit them all within the time span that is displayed on screen. For Tier 1 events you will be granted only a bit less than 1 minute starting with the spawning of the first target/s. The targets won't throw Snowcubes at you like Snowball fight event Mirus do, but if you get very close to a target, they actually will hit you! This will almost always deal cold damage over time for 3-4 seconds and will push your player character upwards and back as well.

Tip: best prepare at least one stack of Snowcubes even before starting any Trog Trap events, so you won't run out of Snowcubes for this event. To craft Snowcubes, simply put blocks of Snow into a Processor.

Placing Snowball Turrets on the ground during this event is extremely recommended. Snowball Turrets are of immense help with events like this one (and also for "Snowball Fight"s). Snowball Turrets have become craftable after the third reward bundle of Elfi's Community Toy Drive was unlocked with 25 million Toys on January 3rd 2018 for those who claimed the Snowball Turret Bundle until January 10th 2018.

Snowball Targets are "vulnerable" only to Snowcubes. Remember that Snowcubes fly in an arch when aiming at the targets! These of course never drop any Loot Bags, since they aren't Creatures. Even if you attempt to hit them with melee weapons, they won't take any damage at all. Red compass markers will indicate where each target is positioned.

If you do not get very close to any of the targets, you won't even need any armor nor health regeneration/healing measures for this event.

Snow 2 Go (Tier 1 with 10 capture points)[]

5 seconds after the event has been announced, a candy-cane-colored pole with a sky blue sphere on it will spawn somewhere in a rather large proximity around the Small Trog Trap. You will have a bit more than 1 minute (nearly 90 seconds) to "capture" 10 of these poles that will spawn one after another.

Each pole has a red "force field" around it that you are supposed to enter, which will cause the blue sphere to rise on the pole. You will have to stay there until the blue sphere has reached the top. A small diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen will turn from red to blue, displaying a number of 0% to 100% (often "jumping" from 0 to 50 and then to 100 quickly), ending with a large system message saying "Point captured!".

This will make sure that you will know when to leave the close vicinity of the pole and run to the next pole that will spawn. You should hurry and run to the next "capture pole" as soon as the message appears. Check the lilac colored flags on your compass that will lead you to the next pole quickly.

Even though the red force-field-like "capture spheres" of the 10 poles seem to be rather large, the blue sphere might only actually start to ascend if you stand next to the pole. The gauge might be reacting a bit slow or only "stuttering" sometimes, and sometimes the sphere won't budge if you step directly "into" the pole, since the poles do not have a collision texture. If you walk away from the pole too soon, the gauge will display "losing" (instead of "capturing" or "captured") in order to tell you that you should get closer to the pole.

During these events, no enemies will show up that would try to hinder you from "capturing" the points. Still you should make sure to run to the next appearing pole as fast as you can, since the available timespan for finishing the event successfully is really short. You might even want to consider using Speed Potions for this event.

Pining For You (Tier 1)[]

5 seconds after the event has been announced, ca. 10 Pine Trees (maybe randomly up to 12) will spawn within a certain proximity around the Trog Trap, looking like undecorated Holiday Decorative Trees. You now have a little less than 1 minute to "chop" these trees down that will each require 4 hits with any melee weapon, no matter if you'll use a Lumite Sword, Diamond Sword, Iron Sword, Obsidian Sword, Stone Sword, Wood Sword or an indestructible Twig (that doesn't lose durability).

Pine Trees do not fight back and will not drop any Loot Bags. They will merely distract you with the fresh smell of pine and attempt to hide Troggington so that he can escape from your trap. Red compass markers will indicate where each of these trees is positioned. If Pine Trees should spawn on flat objects like Wood Signs or Switches due to bad luck, they might become invulnerable though, preventing you from completing the event successfully.

King of the Chill (Tier 1 ?)[]

This event has been reported by certain players to be rarely initiated by Small Trog Traps. Unfortunately I cannot confirm this after playing through hundreds of Small Trog Trap events. These "King of the Chill" tier 1 events are supposed to consist of 3-4 rounds of a few Troggington Minions that will spawn and attack you while you have to stay close to candy-cane-colored capture poles for a few seconds each until they have been fully activated and the next pole will spawn elsewhere within a certain proximity around the Trog Trap. Actually, this description resembles "Get to the Capture" events that are sometimes initiated when either Medium Trog Traps or Large Trog Traps are being placed, while the "King of the Chill" events tier 2 and 3 ask you stay close to the Trog Trap while defeating all spawning Minions within the set timespan (let them stay alive within the blue capture zone around the Trog Trap for too long and you lose).

Second-level events initiated by Medium Trog Traps []

The second difficulty level of challenges can be taken on after obtaining Medium Trog Traps - either from most Reward Holiday Gift Boxes after successfully completing events that were started by Small Trog Traps, or by buying Medium Trog Traps in the Store for Coins as part of the Holiday Trap Pack (10 Traps) or the Ultimate Holiday Trap Pack (40 Traps).

As soon as players manage to accomplish the given event goal, a special Tier 2 Reward Holiday Gift Box will appear that will contain ca. 11-14 Rescued Toys, occasionally 1 Large Trog Trap plus 3-8 stacks of a few random consumables, materials and/or items like: 1-5 Basic Health Potions, 1-2 Speed Potions, 1-2 Health Regeneration Potions, 1-2 Freeze Resistance Potions, 1-2 Advanced Health Potions, 1-2 Crystal Shards, 1-2 Infused Crystals, 1-2 Fire Bombs, 1-2 Freeze Bombs, 1-2 Force Bombs, 1-2 Basic Extractors, 1-2 Advanced Extractors, 1-2 Basic Excavators, 1-2 Advanced Excavators, 1-2 Super Excavators, 1-2 Questionable Jerkys, 1-2 Blizzard Chizzard Eggs, 1-2 Gingerbread Loaves, 1-2 Frigid Pies, 1-2 Frigid Sandwiches, 1-2 Frigid Soups, 1-2 Arctek Lanterns, 1-2 Grand Arctek Lanterns and/or other items like that.

Known Medium Trog Trap events[]

Get to the Capture (Tier 1 with 5 capture points)[]

Even though the onscreen description of this event says "Secure the area around the trap! Don't let Troggington's minions gain any ground.", the real objective of this event is to stay close to 5 "capture points" spawning one after another looking like candy-cane-colored poles for long enough to let the blue spheres on them ascend from the center to the top.

You will need to stay within the red force-field-like "capture zone" around the pole for ca. 12 seconds while the blue sphere is rising. Five of these poles will spawn one after another within a certain proximity around the Trog Trap. You only have ca. 2 minutes in total to make sure that all 5 capture points are "secured" by letting their blue spheres reach the top. Since each of them only takes 12 seconds to rise up, this should only take a minute and a bit of running up to each of the poles.

First problem is that the capture zones do not always react properly to a player character's presence or the blue spheres might rise extremely slowly even if you stay very close to the pole (might be related to connection issues). The other - intended - obstacle is that either one or (more often) two more aggressive Creatures will spawn ca. every 20 seconds (up to 10 in total if you don't defeat any of them during the event), mainly Blizzard Chizzards called "Chizzard Minions", but also a few Arctic Mirus called "Miru Minions".

For example, ca. at 1:58 two Chizzard Minions might spawn, then two more (or one Chizzard Minion together with a Miru Minion) at 1:38 (to 1:36), two more Chizzard Minions at 1:17 (to 1:13), two Miru Minions together with one Chizzard Minion (or two Chizzard Minions again) at 0:58 (to 0:55), and at last one or two more Chizzard Minions at 0:38. Rarely two Miru Minions or even three Minions might appear together at a time though.

These Creatures will attack you. Each sphere will need ca. 12 seconds to rise to the top of the pole, but each time that you will be pushed out of the red force-field-like "capture zone" by a Creature, the ascending of the blue sphere will not only stop, but even be reversed, truthfully reflected by the percentage displayed on the red-blue diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen.

Chizzard Minions have the exact same combat skills like common Blizzard Chizzards, dealing cold damage over time for up to 7 seconds occasionally when hitting your player character, but also using their "dive attack" to push you away, which will hinder you to keep on "securing" the capture pole. Even worse, sometimes these Creatures are able to stun your player character, rendering you unable to do anything for 3-5 seconds, often while your player character is also pushed out of the red capture zone of the poles at the same time. They require 9 hits dealt with a Lumite level sword to be killed.

Miru Minions will throw Snowcubes at you that can also push your player character back and out of the "capture zone" as well as sometimes deal cold damage over time for 4 seconds as well. They require 5 hits by a Lumite level sword to be killed.

All of these Minions are vulnerable to any type of swords/melee weapons and also Explosives like Armor-Piercing Bombs or Explosive Bombs for example; and they can also be stunned by Stun Bombs. It is absolutely recommended to make use of Explosives as often as you can while "securing" the capture points, since Explosives have an area effect and can get rid of several Creatures at once, different to melee weapons (that you can use for fighting the closest enemies at the very same time too). You can use Snowcubes too, but unfortunately these won't deal much damage during this event.

As some sort of compensation, Troggington's Minions are able to drop Loot Bags filled with items similar to the contents of Reward Holiday Gift Boxes minus any Trog Traps.

It is recommended to wear your best armor, equip your best weapon, carry a stack of Advanced Health Potions in your quickbar and prepare health regenerating Potions or Food, for example Mushroom Sandwiches beforehand, that will grant health regeneration and a bonus on your maximum health points for 15 minutes.

Ice Spy (Tier 2 with 4 spies)[]

Four waves of 5-6 Creatures - Leafies and/or Blizzard Chizzards wearing Pet Accessories - will spawn one after another within a certain proximity around the Medium Trog Trap. One of these Creatures of each wave has to be identified and killed. Onscreen messages will tell you which type of Creature the "spy" is that you should kill, and which type of hat and/or bow tie the spy is wearing (sometimes spies will wear only one of these accessories).

The descriptions of spies are not as detailed as for tier 1 events, but will still name the type of Creature and its accessories accurately. If a Creature is depicted as "I don't like the look of that Leafi/Chizzard in the holiday hat" or "They say that the spy is a Leafi/Chizzard in only a holiday hat", this Creature usually ONLY wears a holiday hat, but no bow tie (and vice versa - "only a bow tie" means "no hat").

Sometimes the description on the bottom of your screen will not specify the type of Creature you should be looking for while the message at the left border of your screen will be more specific, but usually only one type (either Leafis or Blizzard Chizzards) will spawn during such a wave anyways.

Tier 2 events will give you ca. 1 minute to defeat all 4 spies. During Tier 2 events, spies will only sometimes be the ones that wear pointed red and white Holiday Pet Hats. More often they will either be Leafis or Blizzard Chizzards wearing either only a Top Hat or only a Bow Tie (of any color). Sometimes, only a bunch of Leafis will spawn, at other times only Blizzard Chizzards might spawn. Tip: again it's recommended to first look for the type of Creature with the specific hat that you need to find (Leafi or Blizzard Chizzard), or check for Creatures that do not wear any hats if this is the description of the spy, and then check for the bow ties because these are more difficult to spot.

Leafis will again only attempt to flee without fighting back, but Blizzard Chizzards will defend themselves when being attacked and are occasionally able to deal cold damage over time for ca. 9 seconds. Red icons on the compass will show you where all the Creatures are, but will not point out the spy itself in any specific way.

Snowball Target Practice (Tier 2 with small and large targets at different heights)[]

Like for Tier 1 Snowball Target Practice, 5 seconds after the announcement of the event type, several piles of 3-4 Snowcubes each will appear at once within a certain proximity around the Medium Trog Trap so you can collect these ranged "weapons". When collecting them all, you should have been provided with ca. 25-30 Snowcubes in total (again, less than for "Snowball Fight"). Snowcube piles are indicated on your compass with their own small icons once again.

Ca. 15 seconds later, the first of eight waves consisting of ca. 2-4 red-and-white target will spawn. These targets for tier 2 often have smaller discs than for tier 1, some of them are positioned higher up with longer poles and such harder to hit properly.

Again you are supposed to hit all of the targets with well-aimed Snowcubes, thrown from a stack of Snowcubes in your quickbar by clicking your right mouse button. Try to hit them all within the time span that is displayed on screen. For Tier 2 events you will also be granted only a bit less than 1 minute starting with the spawning of the first target/s. The targets will again hit you if you get very close to them. This will almost always deal cold damage over time for 3-4 seconds and will push your player character upwards and back as well.

As before, it is recommended to prepare at least one stack of Snowcubes even before starting any Trog Trap events. To craft Snowcubes, simply put blocks of Snow into a Processor. Placing Snowball Turrets on the ground during this event is extremely recommended, they are of great help with events like this one (and also for "Snowball Fight"s).

Remember that Snowcubes fly in an arch when aiming at the targets. These of course never drop any Loot Bags, since they aren't Creatures. Even if you attempt to hit them with melee weapons, they won't take any damage at all. Red compass markers will indicate where each target is positioned.

"Snowball Target Practice" tier 2 is sometimes only rewarded with a Medium Trog Trap.

If you do not get very close to any of the targets, you won't need to use up any health regenerating or healing measures.

Snowball Fight (Tier 2)[]

This event has been reported by certain players to be rarely initiated by Medium Trog Traps just like they can be initiated by Small Trog Traps too. However, I cannot confirm this yet, even after playing through dozens of Medium Trog Trap events. They are supposed to be similar to Snowball Fight Tier 1 events, which means that 30-40 Snowcubes should be obtainable from Snowcube piles at the beginning of the event again, after which five waves consisting of ca. 3-6 Arctic event Mirus (most often 5) wearing dark blue holiday hats should spawn that you will then have to defeat within a little more than 1 minute with well-aimed Snowcubes thrown from a stack in your quickbar by clicking your right mouse button. If this event should occur, placing Snowball Turrets on the ground during this event is very recommended once again, along with any health regenerating Potion or Food that you can consume when this event starts; for example Mushroom Sandwiches.

Snow 3 Go (Tier 2 with 15 "smaller" capture points)[]

Similar to "Snow 2 Go", 5 seconds after the event has been announced, a candy-cane-colored pole with a sky blue sphere on it will spawn somewhere in a rather large proximity around the Medium Trog Trap. You will have a bit more than 1 minute again (nearly, but not fully 90 seconds) to "capture" 15 of these poles that will spawn one after another.

Each pole has a red "force field" around it again that you are supposed to enter, which will cause the blue sphere to rise on the pole. As for "Snow 2 Go" you will have to stay there until the blue sphere has reached the top. A small diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen will turn from red to blue, displaying the percentage of success from 0% to 100%, ending with a large system message saying "Point captured!" to make sure that you will know when to leave the close vicinity of the pole and run to the next pole that will spawn. You should hurry and run to the next "capture pole" as soon as the message appears. Check the lilac colored flags on your compass that will lead you to the next pole quickly.

For tier 2 events, the red force-field-like "capture spheres" of the 15 poles are significantly smaller than for tier 1 events. However, the blue sphere often only actually starts to ascend if you stand very close to the pole. Beware of stepping directly "into" the pole though, since this might prevent the event from noticing your player character, and the poles do not have a collision texture. If you walk away from the pole too soon, the gauge will display "losing" (instead of "capturing" or "captured") in order to tell you that you should get closer to the pole. If you stay away, the blue sphere might actually drop on the capture pole while the percentage number is decreasing on the gauge.

During this type of events, no enemies will show up that would try to hinder you from "capturing" the points. Still you have to run to the next spawning capture pole as fast as you can, since the available timespan for finishing the event successfully is very short. You might want to use a Speed Potion for this event. Sometimes bugs can occur that will let the blue spheres react extremely reluctantly or very swiftly and only at the borders of the red force-field-like "capture zones" though, rendering them impossible to complete successfully.

"Snow 3 Go" is sometimes only rewarded with a Medium Trog Trap.

Pining For You (Tier 2)[]

This event is nearly the same as if it were initiated with a Small Trog Trap and is also always rewarded with a Medium Trog Trap instead of a Large Trog Trap.

5 seconds after the event has been announced, ca. 15 Pine Trees will spawn within a certain proximity around the Trog Trap, looking like undecorated Holiday Decorative Trees. You now have ca. 1 minute to "chop" these trees down that will each require 4 hits with any melee weapon, no matter if you'll use a Lumite Sword, Diamond Sword, Iron Sword, Obsidian Sword, Stone Sword, Wood Sword or an indestructible Twig (that doesn't lose durability).

Pine Trees do not fight back and will not drop any Loot Bags. They will merely distract you with the fresh smell of pine and attempt to hide Troggington so that he can escape from the trap. Red compass markers will indicate where each of these trees is positioned. If Pine Trees should spawn on flat objects like Wood Signs or Switches due to bad luck, they might become invulnerable though, preventing you from completing the event successfully.

King of the Chill (Tier 2?)[]

Even though the onscreen description of this event says "Don't let Troggington's Minions capture the control point!", the real objective of this event is to defeat all of the spawning Minions around the Medium Trog Trap for ca. 1,5 minutes (or rather 100 seconds).

Aggressive Creatures will spawn ca. every 20-30 seconds, for example starting with one Blizzard Chizzard called "Chizzard Minion" at ca. 1:38, then additionally a Rambeau called "Rambeau Minion" at 1:13, a blue-green colored Warmworm called "Coolworm Minion together with a Chizzard Minion at 0:48 and another Coolworm and Rambeau Minion at ca. 0:18. Occasionally, even more Minions could randomly spawn.

All of these Creatures are wearing dark blue Holiday Pet Hats and are a bit larger than their common non-event brethren. As soon as the aggressive Creatures are starting to spawn, the message on the bottom of your screen will say "Secure that control point! Troggington's minions are invading". All of these minions will attack you and are able to deal cold damage over time for 3-4 seconds (Chizzard Minions for 7+ seconds even) occasionally when hitting your player character.

Chizzard Minions have the exact same combat skills like common Blizzard Chizzards, rarely dealing cold damage over time for up to 7 seconds occasionally when hitting your player character, especially when they use their "dive attack" to push yor player character back. Even worse, sometimes these Creatures are able to stun your player character, rendering you unable to do anything for 3-5 seconds while your player character is also pushed back at the same time. Chizzard Minions require 9 hits by a Lumite level sword to be killed.

Rambeau Minions will attempt to push your player character back and can also deal cold damage over time for 3 seconds occasionally. Just like Miru Minions, they require 5 hits of a Lumite level sword to be killed.

Coolworm Minions can spit a frost fountain similar to the lava fountain of common Warmworms, but the frost fountains of Coolworms will deal cold damage over time. They require 8 hits by a Lumite level sword to be killed.

All of these Minions are vulnerable to any type of swords/melee weapons and also Explosives like Armor-Piercing Bombs or Explosive Bombs for example; and they can be stunned by Stun Bombs too. It is absolutely recommended to make use of Explosives as often as you can, since Explosives have an area effect and can get rid of several Creatures at once, different to melee weapons (that you can use for fighting the closest enemies at the very same time too). You can use Snowcubes too in principle, but unfortunately these won't deal much damage during this event.

This time, the diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen will be light blue at first and display 0%, saying "capturing", while changing to "losing" each time a Creature enters the blue force-field-like "capture zone" around the Trog Trap. The percentage will rise as long as Creatures are alive in close proximity of the Medium Trog Trap, slowly changing to a red color from bottom to top while rising, and if the percentage displayed should reach 100%, you will have lost the event.

Troggington's Minions are able to drop Loot Bags filled with items similar to the contents of Reward Holiday Gift Boxes minus any Trog Traps.

Present Danger (Tier 1, 13-15 seconds for 9-10 gift boxes)[]

The messages at the beginning of the event explain the objective well enough; "Collect as much loot as you can before time runs out." , and: "HAHAHA! Lucky you - Today's forecast has a 95% chance of loot. How many can you grab? Giftboxes galore!".

Shortly after this message, 9-10 colorful Holiday Gifts will spawn, some of which will also contain small stacks of crafted Christmas-themed items like Gingerbread Walls, Molasses, Holiday Lights and the like. These presents seemingly never contain any Trog Traps, but they often contain Rescued Toys.

Unfortunately the presents will only be available for ca. 13 seconds, so you will have to hurry to loot as many of them in time as you can. Of course, no additional Reward Holiday Gift Box will appear at the end of this event.

Third-level events initiated by Large Trog Traps []

Large Trog Traps will start high-tier events immediately when being placed. 10 Large Trog Traps can either be found in Tier 2 Reward Holiday Gift Boxes or can be bought with Coins in the Store as part of the Ultimate Holiday Trap Pack.

As soon as players manage to accomplish the given event goal, a special Tier 3 Reward Holiday Gift Box will appear that will contain up to 33 or more Rescued Toys, rarely 1 Medium Trog Trap plus usually 5-8 stacks of a few random consumables, materials and/or items like: 1-5 Basic Health Potions, 1-2 Speed Potions, 1-2 Health Regeneration Potions, 1-2 Freeze Resistance Potions, 1-2 Advanced Health Potions, 1-2 Crystal Shards, 1-2 Infused Crystals, 1-2 Fire Bombs, 1-2 Freeze Bombs, 1-2 Force Bombs, 1-2 Basic Extractors, 1-2 Advanced Extractors, 1-2 Basic Excavators, 1-2 Advanced Excavators, 1-2 Super Excavators, 1-2 Questionable Jerkys, 1-2 Blizzard Chizzard Eggs, 1-2 Gingerbread Loaves, 1-2 Frigid Pies, 1-2 Frigid Sandwiches, 1-2 Frigid Soups, 1-2 Arctek Lanterns, 1-2 Grand Arctek Lanterns and/or other items like that.

Known Large Trog Trap events[]

Ice Spy (Tier 3 with 5 spies)[]

Five waves of 5-6 Creatures - Leafies and/or Blizzard Chizzards wearing Pet Accessories - will spawn one after another within a certain proximity around the Large Trog Trap. One of these Creatures of each wave has to be identified and killed. Onscreen messages will tell you which type of Creature the "spy" is that you should kill, and which type of hat and/or bow tie the spy is wearing (sometimes spies will wear only one of these accessories).

These tier 3 events will again grant you ca. 1 minute of time to defeat all 5 spies. The descriptions of spies are a bit different from tier 1 and 2 events. They often describe the specific colors of hats and/or bowties that the "spy" is wearing, but the description on the bottom of your screen will not specify the type of Creature that you should be looking for. This time the message at the left border of your screen will also not be more specific, both will only say "the spy is wearing..." or "the spy is the one wearing...".

Sometimes only a bunch of Leafis will spawn, at other times only Blizzard Chizzards will spawn, but often both types will spawn, while the description of the spy still won't specify the sought-after Creature type. If only a bow tie is mentioned, then the spy does not wear any type of hat, and if only the hat is specified, the spy doesn't wear a bow tie.

Spies once again require 3 hits with any weapon, no matter if a Lumite Sword, Diamond Sword, Iron Sword, Obsidian Sword, Stone Sword, Wood Sword or even an indestructible Twig (that doesn't lose durability) to be eliminated. Different from the red ghostly Creatures that spawned during the Halloween-events of Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign, the "spies" will reduce the durability of the melee weapon that you'll use to fight them though. Spies do not ever seem to drop any Loot Bags of their own.

Get to the Capture (Tier 2 with 6 capture points)[]

Even though the onscreen description of this event says "Secure the area around the trap! Don't let Troggington's minions gain any ground." again, the real objective of this event is to stay close to 6 "capture points" that will spawn one after another looking like candy-cane-colored poles for long enough to let the blue spheres on them ascend from the center to the top.

You only have ca. 2 minutes in total to make sure that all 6 capture points are "secured" by letting their blue spheres reach the top. After one point is "captured", if you could manage to stay within the red force-field-like "capture zone" around the pole for ca. 12 seconds while the blue sphere is rising, the next of six poles in total will spawn within a certain proximity around the Trog Trap.

First problem is that the capture zones do not always react properly to a player character's presence or the blue spheres might rise extremely slowly even if you stay very close to the pole (might be related to connection issues). The other - intended - obstacle is that either two or more aggressive Creatures wearing dark blue holiday hats will spawn ca. every 20 seconds (up to 12 in total if you don't defeat any of them during the event), mainly Blizzard Chizzards called "Chizzard Minions", but also Arctic Mirus called "Miru Minions" and Rambeaus called Rambeau Minions.

At first, two Chizzard Minions might spawn at 1:58, next either two more of them (or one Chizzard Minion and a Miru Minion) at 1:38, often followed by a Rambeau Minion and another Chizzard Minion (or Miru Minion) at 1:15, then two more Chizzard Minions shortly after, while at 0:58 two Miru Minions might appear, plus two more Miru Minions and another Rambeau Minion at 0:28.

These Creatures will attack you. Each sphere will usually only need ca. 12 seconds to rise to the top of the pole, but each time that you will be pushed out of the red force-field-like "capture zone" by a Creature, the ascending of the blue sphere will not only stop, but even be reversed, documented by the percentage displayed on the diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen that changes from red to light blue while the blue sphere is ascending.

Miru Minions will throw Snowcubes at you that can also push your player character back, as well as sometimes are able to deal cold damage over time for 4 seconds. They require 5 hits dealt with a Lumite level sword to be killed.

Troggington's Minions can drop Loot Bags filled with items similar to the contents of Reward Holiday Gift Boxes minus any Trog Traps.

Troggington Fights Back[]

This event does not have any time restrictions. The description at the beginning announces: "Troggington has ordered his minions to attack!".

Only seconds after that, aggressive Creatures wearing dark blue holiday hats will spawn, usually starting with three Chizzard Minions. After you have defeated them, more aggressive Creatures wearing dark blue holiday hats will spawn, usually two Rambeau Minions and one Miru Minion that will throw Snowcubes at you from a distance. After defeating these enemies, a third wave of minions will spawn, usually two Chizzard Minions, one more Rambeau Minion and also an immobile Coolworm Minion.

After you have defeated the third wave, the system message will claim: "Wait a minute... that's not actually Troggington in the trap!", after which the Frost Trog Troggington himself will appear. Curiously enough, he is peaceful. Shortly after, many minions will spawn; at least 5 Miru Minions and 2 Chizzard Minions. Your objective is to defeat all of them, including Troggington.

Miru Minions will throw Snowcubes at you that can also push your player character back, as well as sometimes are able to deal cold damage over time for 4 seconds. They require 5 hits dealt with a Lumite level sword to be killed.

Troggington is very tough and requires 80-90 hits with a Lumite level sword to be defeated, so you should use your best weapon. Troggington looks like he attempts to heal himself like common Trogs do, but it seemingly does not work the same way, since his health points do not visibly recover. He is able to hurl player characters away or up quite far when hammering with both of his fists against the ground, even if the player characters have been behind Troggington. Circling him is not always a very successful strategy, at least less successful than against common Trogs. He also seems to be able to occasionally deal cold damage over time for 3 seconds.

All of these Creatures are vulnerable to any type of swords/melee weapon and also Explosives like Armor-Piercing Bombs or Explosive Bombs for example; and they can also be stunned by Stun Bombs. It is absolutely recommended to make use of Explosives as often as you can, since Explosives have an area effect and can get rid of several Creatures at once, different to your best melee weapon, that you can use for fighting the closest enemies at the very same time too. Snowcubes won't deal much damage during this event.

Troggington's Minions and perhaps Troggington III too (never experienced it happening though) can drop Loot Bags filled with items similar to the contents of Reward Holiday Gift Boxes minus any Trog Traps.

King of the Chill (Tier 3 ?)[]

Again the onscreen description of this event says: "Don't let Troggington's Minions capture the control point!", which in reality means that you have to defeat all of the spawning Minions around the Large Trog Trap for ca. 1,5 minutes (usually 100 seconds, exactly the same timespan as for Medium Trog Trap events).

Aggressive Creatures will spawn ca. every 20-30 seconds, usually starting with one Blizzard Chizzard called "Chizzard Minion" at ca. 1:38, then additionally one or two Arctic Mirus called Miru Minions at ca. 1:22, together or followed by two Chizzard Minions shortly after, then one or two blue-green colored Warmworms called "Coolworm Minions" together with a Rambeau called "Rambeau Minion" at ca. 0:58, another Coolworm at 0:48 to 0:36 together with a Chizzard Minion, sometimes two more Chizzard Minions together with another Rambeau Minion at ca. 0:28. 5-6 rounds with 1-5 enemies spawning have been reported by other players.

All of these Creatures are wearing dark blue Holiday Pet Hats and some are a bit larger than their common non-event brethren. As soon as the aggressive Creatures are starting to spawn, the message on the bottom of your screen will say "[Troggington]: RWAAARG! Not again! Minions to me!" All of these minions will attack you and are able to (actually pretty rarely) deal cold damage over time for 3-7 seconds occasionally when hitting your player character, while some attacks will also push you back and out of the blue capture zone. You should stay within the large blue force-field-like "capture zone" around the Trog Trap for most of the 100 second duration of this event yourself too.

Miru Minions will throw Snowcubes at you that can also push your player character back, as well as sometimes are able to deal cold damage over time for 4 seconds. They require 5 hits dealt with a Lumite level sword to be killed.

It is absolutely recommended to make use of Explosives as often as you can, since Explosives have an area effect and can get rid of several Creatures at once, different to your best melee weapon that you can use for fighting the closest enemies at the very same time too. Snowcubes won't deal much damage during this event - not even against Miru Minions, even though they look very similar to the Arctic Mirus that appear during "Snowball Fight" events where they are only vulnerable to Snowcubes but not to any other weapons.

The diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen will be light blue at first and display 0%, saying "capturing", while changing to "losing" each time a Creature enters the blue force-field-like "capture zone" around the Trog Trap. The percentage will rise as long as Creatures are still alive in close proximity of the Large Trog Trap. The gauge will slowly change to a red color from bottom to top while the percentage of "losing" is rising, and if the percentage displayed should reach 100%, you will have lost the event. So the objective is to kill all the Creatures, or at least push them out of the blue force-field-like "capture zone" around the Trog Trap.

Snowball Target Practice (Tier 3 with mainly small targets in different heights)[]

Like for Tier 1 and 2 Snowball Target Practice, several piles of 3-4 Snowcubes each will appear at once within a certain proximity around the Medium Trog Trap so you can collect these ranged "weapons".

These targets for tier 3 nearly always have smaller discs than for tier 1, some of them are positioned higher up with longer poles and such harder to hit properly.

Again you are supposed to hit all of the targets with well-aimed Snowcubes, thrown from a stack of Snowcubes in your quickbar by clicking your right mouse button. Try to hit them all within the time span that is displayed on screen. For Tier 3 events you will also be granted only a bit less than 1 minute starting with the spawning of the first target/s.

Remember that Snowcubes fly in an arch when aiming at the targets. These of course never drop any Loot Bags, since they aren't Creatures. Even if you attempt to hit them with melee weapons, they won't take any damage at all. Red compass markers will indicate where each target is positioned.

Present Danger (Tier 2?)[]

This event can rarely be initiated by a Large Trog Trap, however it does not seem to be any different than when it is initiated by a Medium Trog Trap. Ca. 10 colorful Holiday Gifts will spawn, most of which will contain small stacks of crafted Christmas-themed items like Gingerbread Walls, Molasses, Holiday Lights and the like. These presents seemingly never contain any Trog Traps, but they often contain Rescued Toys.

The presents will only be available for ca. 13 seconds and then will vanish, so you should hurry to loot as many of them within this timespan as you can. No additional Reward Holiday Gift Box will appear at the end of this event.

Snowball Fight (Tier 3)[]

This event has been reported by certain players to be rarely initiated by Large Trog Traps just like they can be initiated by Small Trog Traps. However, I cannot confirm this yet, even after playing through dozens of Large Trog Trap events.

Snow 3 Go (Tier 3 with 15 small capture points)[]

This event has been reported by certain players to be rarely initiated by Large Trog Traps just like they can be initiated by Medium Trog Traps. However, I cannot confirm this yet, even after playing through dozens of Large Trog Trap events. They are supposed to be similar to Snow 3 Go Tier 2 events, which means that you should have a bit more than 1 minute to "capture" 15 candy-cane-colored capture poles with red capture zones around them and rising light blue spheres on them that will spawn one after another around the Large Trog Trap. No aggressive Creatures should attack you while doing so, and a small diamond-shaped gauge in the middle of your screen is supposed to turn from red to blue again, going from 0% to 100% and ending with a large system message saying "Point captured!". You should be able to check the lilac colored flags on your compass that will lead you to the next pole very quickly.
