Basic Information[]

Spooky Candles are Halloween-themed luminaires with open flames the size of less than one block that are made of 3 candles in a set and can be placed for decorational purposes.

The three candles are of different size and thickness, two of them come in dark candle holders that seem to be made of dark stone or maybe black iron. These candles do not change shape in Creativerse, no matter if being placed against the wall, ceiling or floor, or rotated into any direction.

Spooky Candles emit yellow-ish light when switched on (by default as soon as they are placed). The light intensity of these seasonal light sources is rather dim; by far not as bright as the light emitted by common Wood Burning Lamps. Spooky Candles operate with open flames, so they are able to set flammable materials, blocks, items and liquids of fire.

Spooky Candles can be placed into game worlds in order to be deactivated/activated and can optionally be wired to activation devices like Switches, Sensors, Number Pads or Pressure Plates and the like, optionally with operating gates in between, like Number Comparison Gates, Delay Gates, Flip-Flop Gates, Inverter Gates, Logic Gates, so that they can be activated from a distance, will be switched on when player characters and/or Creatures step into a specific area, can be activated/deactivated as part of a timed sequence, etc.

When placed and switched on (by default), Spooky Candles will prevent Creatures from spawning on the illuminated surrounding solid blocks - even daylight Creatures. Their artificial light does not hurt Night Creatures though, so after these Creatures have spawned in darkness somewhere else, they can then wander into the light of such lamps unscathed.

This Halloween-themed light source was implemented to Creativerse with update R63 on October 13th 2019 for the seasonal Halloween event "Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign" 2019.

Spooky Candles can only be crafted after obtaining their according rare crafting Recipe by trading it for 222 Pumpkiru Candy at any of the randomly spawning Pumpkirus during the seasonal Halloween-event that lasts for ca. one month like the third Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign that started on October 13th 2019 and ended on November 19th 2019.

How to obtain[]

Spooky Candles can be obtained during the annual Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign event for ca. one month around Halloween from October to November.

The rare seasonal crafting recipe for Spooky Candles and also already crafted Spooky Candles can be traded from Pumpkirus. These NPC traders only randomly spawn (and can be summoned) during the seasonal Halloween event or might appear at other rare occasions in the future.

During the third Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign that started on October 17th 2019 and ended on November 19th 2019, 5 already crafted Spooky Candles could be bought for 25 Pumpkiru Candy in theoretically infinite amounts from the Pumpkirus that could be discovered at night on the surface of any Creativerse game world.

These decorative Candles cannot be found in Treasure Chests nor can it be obtained from any Creatures.

Spooky Candles can be crafted in the Crafting Menu though (to be opened by pressing "q" as the default key), but only after the according rare crafting Recipe for these Halloween-themed decorative items has been obtained - usually by buying their Recipe page from any of the Pumpkirus during the Halloween event month for 222 Pumpkiru Candy and then "learning" it by right-click on the Recipe page in the inventory.

For ca. one month around Halloween, Pumpkirus - The Great Pumpkirus and (more rarely) Pumpkiru Jr.s - will spawn here and there on the surface of Creativerse game worlds within a certain proximity around player characters. More of them will spawn when players travel across the landscape. A compass symbol looking like a pumpkin indicates whenever one or more Pumpkirus are not far away; and the symbol will get larger when the Pumpkiru gets closer. Since October 17th 2019, you can alternatively summon The Great Pumpkiru to you by using the Mysterious Bauble from the quickbar.

You can "activate" any of the Pumpkirus by clicking your right mouse button while pointing your cursor at these NPCs. Both Pumpkirus would then "sell" crafted Spooky Candles to you if you select the respective icon in the "Featured" TAB in their trading window (click on the star icon at the top of the window).

Pumpkiru Candy can be obtained by fighting Ghost Creatures during Halloween event-times and by successfully completing Idol Events. These events can be initiated by placing Haunted Idols (or Infused Haunted Idols or Unleashed Haunted Idols) into the game world.

Haunted Idols can be obtained from daily Login Chests and Ghost Creatures during Halloween event-times. Infused Haunted Idols are then obtainable as a reward for successfully completing tier 1 Idol Events initiated by common Haunted Idols. Unleashed Haunted Idols in return are obtainable as a reward for successfully completing tier 2 Idol Events initiated by Infused Haunted Idols.

While Haunted Idols are no longer a content of daily login reward chests outside the Halloween event-month, all Idols that were obtained during that time and Idols that are obtained throughout the rest of the year will initiate Idol Events like usual.

Additionally, Idols of all kinds can be bought as part of block kits for Blueprints made by players that can be found in the Creativerse Steam blocks&actualsort=mostrecent&p=1 workshop.

Any Pumpkiru Candy that can be collected from the Ghost Loot Bags and Haunted Ghost Treasure reward chests can then only be traded for Halloween-themed building blocks, items, seasonal Costumes and rare seasonal Recipes from the Pumpkirus that will usually only spawn during the Halloween event Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign though.

If you have not participated in the Halloween event, you can ask fellow players who have learnt the Recipe for these Halloween-themed light sources to come craft them for you on your game world after supplying them with the necessary crafting ingredients. You cannot obtain seasonal rare Recipes like this Halloween-specific one through Adventures.

The option to buy these seasonal luminaires and/or their rare crafting Recipe ingame will most likely return around Halloween 2020.

Already crafted Spooky Candles can optionally be bought as parts of (customizable) building kits for any customizable Blueprint with Coins, which in return are purchasable for real money via Steam Wallet in the ingame Store. You can use Blueprints that you have captured yourself with Capture Blocks, as well as Blueprints that were made by other players and that you have subscribed to in the Steam Creativerse workshop, or Blueprints that you have customized with Spooky Candles.

In order to buy a building kit, either select the according Blueprint ingame or activate a cornerstone that has been placed into the game world (and has optionally been customized). Check the content of the building kit first by clicking on the description "Built with xxx Blocks" before you'll click on the green price tag button below "Get kit and build now".

Receiving already crafted Spooky Candles from other players or by buying them as part of any building kits for Blueprints will not unlock their crafting recipe.

How to unlock the crafting recipe[]

As said, the rare crafting Recipe for this decorative item can be traded from any of the Pumpkirus that will only spawn during Halloween event-times (or perhaps additional occasions if Playful sees fit and will announce so on social media and on the official forums).

Pumpkirus will sell the rare Recipe for Spooky Candles to you for 222 Pumpkiru Candy if you select the Recipe page that can be found in the "Featured" TAB of the trading window of the Pumpkirus (click the star icon at the top of the window).

You can buy more than one Recipe page for Spooky Candles, but you will only need and be able to learn the rare Recipe once in order to add it to your Crafting Menu permanently for all game worlds. All surplus Recipe pages can be stored and later on given to other players for them to learn.

In order to permanently add the rare crafting recipe to your crafting menu after you've bought it, this Recipe has to be learnt by right-clicking on it in your inventory/bag or dragging it with the left mouse-button over your player character model on the right side of the inventory. The Recipe page itself will disappear after learning it.

The recipe will then stay be available in your crafting menu on all Creativerse game worlds like all other rare crafting Recipes, even on worlds where the "Pro" option "world bound recipes" ("fresh start") is enabled. Items like unlearnt Recipe pages cannot be transferred to other game worlds though.

You can still obtain the rare Recipe for Spooky Candles from fellow Creativerse players if they have any surplus Spooky Candles Recipe pages stored on their game world and are willing to give it to you. The Recipe page will be consumed when learning it. Seasonal Recipes like the one for Spooky Candles cannot be shared via Adventure.

How to craft[]

To craft 4 Spooky Candles at once in your crafting menu (to be opened by typing "q" as the default key) after obtaining and learning their rare Halloween-specific Recipe, you'll need:

How to use Spooky Candles[]

Spooky Candles can be used for illumination by placing them into the game world.

They can then be wired to activation devices, optionally with operating gates in between. Luminaires like these cannot be wired to any receiving.

Spooky Candles can be switched on or off directly by clicking your right mouse button or pressing "f" as the default key while pointing your cursor at the light sources.

Like all luminaires in Creativerse, Spooky Candles do not need any fuel and will not go dark by themselves after being placed in the world. These light sources that do not operate with open flames cannot set flammable materials on fire.

Spooky Candles can be rotated in all directions by holding "R" (as the default key) and moving the left mouse button. The chosen rotation angle can then be "locked" too by simply typing "r", so that all items of the same stack will be placed facing the same direction.

Spooky Candles do not hinder player characters nor Creatures to walk over or stand in the exact same space that these small luminaires "take up". That's why you can use light sources like these and torches of all kinds to create air bubbles under water that will help your player character to survive under water. However neither solid blocks nor liquids can take up the same space with these luminaires.

You won't need to equip any Power Cells to pick up Spooky Candles that have been placed. Of course you won't be able to pick up such items on game worlds, on player claims or in Adventures where your Permission rank is not sufficient (mainly when you are merely a visitor), which can only be changed by the owner of the game world, the respective claim owner or Adventure creator.

Spooky Candles, like all placeable objects and blocks, can also be put on display by placing them into the slots of display containers like Placemats, Stone Wall Shelves, Hidden Temple Altars, Galactic Grav-Chambers, Frozen Containers, Holiday Decorative Trees, Snow Buried Containers, Wood Planters, Flower Pots or the like, where they will usually be reduced in size while on display.

How to wire Spooky Candles[]

Spooky Candles are part of the Wiring-System in Creativerse. They are receivers (not senders though) and can be wired to activation devices (optionally with operating gates in between) so that they can be activated and deactivated from a distance.

After being placed into the game world, Spooky Candles can either be switched on or off when they receive a true or false input "event" that is sent to them by an activation device / operating gate even from a great distance up to the other corner of the same game world, or when are activated/deactivated manually by players (by clicking your right mouse button or typing "f" as the default key while pointing your cursor at a Spooky Candle).

Wiring Input Icon
Spooky Candles can be wired to activation devices like Switches, Sensors, Number Pads or Pressure Plates etc., optionally with operating gates in between, like Number Comparison Gates, Delay Gates, Flip-Flop Gates, Inverter Gates, Logic Gates, etc. Spooky Candles can only serve as receivers and can then be switched on or off by using the activation device/s.

To wire these light sources, equip a Wiring Tool and point your cursor at Spooky Candles that you have placed into the world. Their "Receive" Hotspot will become visible then.

By clicking on the Hotspots when they are visible, you are able to connect the "Send" Hotspot of any activation devic/es to the Receive Hotspot of Spooky Candles. Luminaires like these and other receivers work best if you wire the activation device/s first and then connect the receivers to it/them.

Operating gates like Flip Flop Gates can be connected in between activation device(s) and Spooky Candle(s) in order to define more exact (de)activation terms. For this purpose, connect the "Send" Hotspot of the activation device(s) to the left "Receive" Hotspot of the operating gate, and then connect the "Send" Hotspot of the operating gate to the "Receive" Hotspot of the Spooky Candle(s).

Alternatively, you can type "n" (as the default key) to open the wiring window of Spooky Candles if you wish to type a code word into the receiving array instead that you can also use in the sending array of activation device/s and/or operating gate/s in order to connect them.

Change the setting of the operating gate/s to your liking. For Number Pads, it's advisable to connect the left Receive Hotspot (1) and to write the correct number code into the right input array (2) in their settings window, then to select "value" instead of "event" and of course to make sure that the equal(ity) sign is selected (by default).

Spooky Candles in Creativerse will light up immediately when they are wired to already activated activation devices.

The Interface (Menu) of Spooky Candles[]

To open the interface window of a Spooky Candle, you will have to equip a Wiring Tool and then press "n" (as the default key) while pointing your cursor at Spooky Candles that have been placed into the game world.

Using this interface window, you can:

  • Edit Button click on this icon to rename the Spooky Candles with another description up to 30 characters long. The new label will replace the word " Spooky Candle" that is displayed by default when pointing at the light source with the cursor. Picking it up will reset its name to the default again though
  • Access Control Lock click on this icon in order to change the permission settings of Spooky Candles so that only other players with a specific or higher permission rank than this defined permission rank can change the settings of this item or even take this seasonal light source away
  • toggle manual interaction - the Spooky Candles can be "locked" by disabling the "can interact" button, so other players will not be able to switch on/off the Spooky Candles directly - but they still can use activation devices that are wired to the Spooky Candles
  • for easier wiring purposes, you can write a code word into the input array ("Receives") here, and then write that same code word into the output array ("Sends") of an activation device (or operating gate) that can even be placed as far away as in the opposite corner of the same game world

How to change the permission settings[]

Wireable objects like Spooky Candles can be activated/deactivated by players of all permission ranks, even by visitors, unless their interactivity is disabled for all players with a Wiring Tool.

For this purpose, you can lock your Spooky Candles by disabling the option "can interact". You can access this option when looking at the Spooky Candles with a Wiring Tool equipped and typing "n" (as the default key) to open the inspection window.

When disabling the option "can interact", other players cannot switch your Spooky Candles on or off, but only if their permission rank is lower than the minimum permission level of the according Spooky Candles. If players are either builders or even admins on your player claim or on the game world (if the Spooky Candles are not placed on any claimed land), then these players might not only activate/deactivate your Spooky Candles, but even pick them up and take them away.

The padlock symbol lets you define the minimum permission rank for your Spooky Candles that players will need to match or outrank in order to be able to see and change the settings of Spooky Candles with their own Wiring Tool. Equip a Wiring Tool and type "n" (as the default key) to open the wiring window of a Spooky Candle. Look for the padlock symbol in the top right corner of the settings window.

Click on this padlock icon to check the permission setting that is currently selected. The permission level of these Spooky Candles will be set to "world builders" by default when placing the Spooky Candles, and on player claims the permission will automatically be set to "claim builders" when the Spooky Candles are placed.

Available world permission-settings: "just me", "world owner/admins", "world mods", "builders" or "everyone". On player claims the available settings are "just me", "claim admins", "claim interact only", "claim builders" and "everyone".

When raising the permission level of Spooky Candles with the padlock symbol, only their owner as well as players with a matching or even higher permission rank than the permission level of the Spooky Candles can use their Wiring Tool to change the settings (including "can interact") of the Spooky Candles, so that they can switch the Spooky Candles on/off directly, or even pick them up and take them away.

How to rename Spooky Candles[]

You can rename Spooky Candles like most other wireable objects by inspecting them and then clicking on the icon that looks like a square note with a "pen" on it in the top right corner. In order to inspect them, equip a Wiring Tool and type "n" (as the default key) while pointing your cursor at Spooky Candles that have been placed into the game world.

You can type up to 30 characters into the labelling array of each Spooky Candle and confirm this with "enter"/"return". This name/label will then be displayed instead of "Spooky Candle" when pointing your cursor at it. Picking it up (and placing it again) will reset the name of the Spooky Candle to its default name label again.

Fire Warning[]

Attention! As with all sources of open fire, please take care when putting Spooky Candles next to, onto or especially directly under any flammable blocks, objects or materials. Spooky Candles are able to set flammable materials, blocks and objects on fire (including certain crafted ones), even when they are switched off and their fire does not seem to be burning.

Within hot environments that make a heat meter show up, like Oceans, Jungles or the Lava layer, but also in much cooler Swamplands, flammable materials like Tar (easiest), flammable crafted blocks like Shredded Leaves (very easily), many types of crafted wooden blocks like Wood Walls (easily), also blocks of Carpets and Thatched Walls (easily), wooden furniture and other objects like Wood Tables or Wood Doors, also natural tree Leaves, natural Wood blocks of all uncorrupted trees, Shrubs and other plants can start to burn when open flames like the ones burning in Spooky Candles are placed next to them or especially below them.

Also please note that Spooky Candles emit heat as well, so placing several such heat sources next to each other might raise the chances to set flammable blocks and objects on fire. This heat can warm up player characters in cold environments when they stand right next to a Spooky Candle - this will lower the heat gauge and can prevent taking freezing damage.

Liquid Tar is the one substance in Creativerse that will even start to burn when being exposed to open fire in extremely cold environments, like when packed in blocks of Ice or Snow; since Tar also has a high base temperature all by itself.

When a fire starts to rage, the flames are able to spread to other nearby flammable blocks, even across gaps of 1-2 blocks, and such can burn down a forest or a whole wooden building in the worst case.

To extinguish fire and stop it from spreading, it is possible to claim areas and make sure that the option "fire enabled" is disabled. Currently fire will not spread on player claims as the default setting, but this option can be toggled by the owners of the claims. It is also possible to disable the spreading of fire for a whole world by the owner of the game world in the world options ("edit world" and "disable fire spread"). Another option to stop fire from spreading would be to create forest aisles/swaths wide enough so that the flames cannot leap over.

Display[]

You can put Spooky Candles safely on display on/in Wall Shelves, Placemats, Hidden Temple Altars, Snow Buried Containers, Frozen Containers, Galactic Grav-Chambers, Holiday Mantles, Wood Planters, Flower Pots and the like where Spooky Candles will be displayed in a smaller size and will neither illuminate nor heat up their surrounding, and of course they will not set flammable materials on fire.

Their flames might appear doused when on display though. The flames will usually start burning if you rotate the display containers, but will go out automatically if you leave the area or log out/relog. Since you cannot rotate objects that have been placed in/on display, containers, you will need to rotate the display containers themselves if you want to change the rotation of the objects inside.
