The Spectre was a flying aggressive night creature in earlier versions of Creativerse until October 1st 2014.
It tended to explode when players were close enough and by that destroy surface terrain, much like the Creeper in Minecraft does.
The Spectre usually only destroyed "soft" blocks like Grass, Dirt, Leaves and Stones, not harder rocks from underground layers nor building blocks crafted from these rocks.
It "dropped" Goo and Gunpowder when being killed (at that time taming was not possible yet).
Journal Notes and Data Chips that are hinting at the background story of the Creativerse universe indicate that the human scientist who stranded on one of the Creativerse world shards gave up on research because of the Spectre (and when the female entity "Pixi" powered down that the scientist had created).
The Spectre has not been spotted for quite some time, but who knows where it might be lying in wait to be revived again and terrorize the lands shrouded in darkness once more...
Notes:[]
Back in 2014 Players hated the Spectre, because by exploding it was not only able to deal damage to player characters, but also to destroy players' bases.
The developers had invented him in order to give players reasons to collect harder rocks for buildings and such progress in the game, also to craft sturdy building blocks like Adobe and Salt that could withstand Spectres; and such move on from erecting beginner's buildings with soft "starting" materials like wood and dirt.
Back at that time, building blocks and furniture crafted from harder rocks could only be picked up when wearing strong power cells. This made the old mining cells lose durability, which had a much lower maximum too, "forcing" players to collect harder and more rare materials more often.
The Spectre was removed from the game with update R3 on October 1st 2014, with the reason given:
"Improvements: Spectre enemy removed. We heard from enough of you about your frustration with this guy, so we’re benching it for a season to see if we can improve it."

The biggest issue with Spectres were that these creatures were somehow able to sense players even through solid walls and then exploded right outside, damaging the garden/front of player bases and the like. To top it off, quite many of them were spawning in the night (again; a lot like Minecraft's Creepers).
Journal Notes and Data Chips mentioning the Spectre have still remained in the game and can still occasionally be found in Treasure Chest or can be obtained from Keepas.
The files for the Spectre were completely removed back at the end of 2014, however they were reimplemented (but not revised nor re-activated) to the game files folder somewhen in summer 2016, together with the Corrupted Rockster that has already officially "returned" to Creativerse on November 15th 2016. Still, the Spectre did not show up again.
