Basic Information[]
Mirror Grass is one of the types of Crops in Creativerse that are usually used for Cooking many different types of Food. Mirror Grass can also be consumed directly for some Health bonus, or can be fed to Pets.
Other than that, Mirror Grass can be placed on display containers, but not directly into the game world, except in Creator Mode.
Mirror Grass was added to the game on June 12th 2020 with the Garden Party update.
How to obtain[]
Mirror Grass can be found on the ground of Woodlands and Swamplands, occasionally in other biomes with the right conditions as well. According to entuland, they spawn in chunks (16x16x16 blocks of the world) that contain either:
- 128 of any surface blocks (pretty much anything you can find on the surface)
- 8 of any natural Wood
- 64 Water (possibly can be Mineral Water as well)
- further 128 Grass in a 2-chunk range
or:
Since these Crops are pretty rare in the beginning, it is advised not to just consume the first Mirror Grass you find, but to process them into 2 Mirror Grass Seeds (each) in the Processor, from which you can grow more Mirror Grass yourself "infinitely".
Mirror Grass are quite rare at first, but the longer you play on a Creativerse world the more of those will spawn. You need to stay somewhere close to a suitable spawn area to give them time to spawn. Sleeping on a Bed to skip days and nights will not help speeding up this process though.
The "Pro" world option "more regrowth" should make more Mirror Grass spawn in the game-world even faster.
You can use your Map and compare it with the maps of template worlds ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=634088783 ) to see where the closest Woodlands or Swamplands might be.
When Mirror Grass are captured with a Capture Block, they will be captured in the shape of Mirror Grass Seeds (1 Seed instead of 1 Mirror Grass). This applies to Mirror Grass found in the wild as well as to Mirror Grass grown by the player.
Mirror Grass cannot be bought as grown Crops with building kits for Blueprints, since they cannot be placed directly into the game world, but only into the slots of display containers. If display containers are captured as Blueprints, the building kits will not contain the items in the slots of the display containers. Instead, the display containers will show "ghost images" when the Blueprint is built.
How to use[]
Mirror Grass can be fed to Pets just as they are.
Mirror Grass can also be consumed directly to grant 100 additional maximum Health for 6 minutes.
However, this is not an efficient way to use Mirror Grass.
The better option is to use Mirror Grass in order to cook even more useful Food in a Cooking Station. While there are currently no recipes that use Mirror Grass specifically, it can be used as a vegetable or secondary ingredient for many types of Food with a large range of different buffs in a Cooking Station.
Mirror Grass can also be put on display by placing them into the slots of display containers like Placemats, Stone Wall Shelves, Hidden Temple Altars, Galactic Grav-Chambers, Frozen Containers, Holiday Decorative Trees, Snow Buried Containers, Holiday Mantles, Flower Pots, Wood Planters or the like.
Like most items in the game, Mirror Grass can be painted, with the primary color affecting the color of the stems and leaves and the secondary color affecting the brownish bulb at the bottom of the plant.
How to grow Mirror Grass from Seeds[]
After obtaining Mirror Grass Seeds by putting Mirror Grass into a Processor, you can grow Mirror Grass from these Seeds on blocks of Dirt, green Grass and/or Mud.
First place such natural blocks over a body of Water, Mineral Water or Bog Water, or alternatively place these liquids directly adjacent to each block of Dirt, Grass or Mud (like directly below for example, or at least corner to corner).
This can even be done underground in complete darkness and/or in a building, but not at too high altitudes, not in too cold nor too hot biomes/layers. In these cases, Seeds will stay "fallow" and won't grow. They cannot be fertilized either in this case, but can be picked up again.
Then place Seeds on the Dirt, Grass or Mud with right-click from a quickslot just like you'd place any block.
You can, but you do not need to fertilize Seeds in order to make your Crops grow faster. You can also fertilize Seedlings (the second growth stage of Crops) or Sprouts (the third growth stage of Crops) alternatively - but you can only use fertilizer once on any Crop, not twice (so either Seed or Seedling or Sprout of one Crop, but not more than one). Fertilizing will reduce the growth time of Mirror Grass for ca. 10 minutes. Fertilizing the Seeds will let them grow into Seedlings immediately, while fertilizing Seedlings or Sprouts will reduce the all-over growing time just as much as when you fertilize the Seeds. Fertilizing a Sprout when the Mirror Grass has less than 10 minutes of growing time remaining will make them turn ripe immediately.
Wait a bit until the Crops are ripe to receive the best harvest. Mirror Grass requires about 60 minutes to grow from seed to ripe.
The Mirror Grass can be harvested by being "pulled" with the gauntlet and left mouse button (by default) just like any other type of block, item, plant or liquid. You won't even need to equip any Power Cell for this.
If Crops stay "ripe" for 24 RL hours, they will turn into "grown" Crops. The harvest will become a little less then, but Crops will never wither.
