Creativerse belongs to the genre of 3D-block-based and block-by-block building games (like Minecraft) that was introduced to the world of gaming by Zach(tronic)'s game Infiniminer in 2009 (released in 2011).
  +
  +
Creativerse itself became available on Steam in purchasable Early Access on 2014-08-12, was launched free to play on 2017-05-08 and is now classified a “live open beta” by the developers since 2018-05-01.
  +
  +
Different from its predecessors, Creativerse is a multiplayer online game that you can play completely for free and optionally solo, but only via Steam and an enabled internet connection; it cannot be played offline.
  +
  +
On the other hand, this allows you to play on any Creativerse game world without requiring the attendance of the world owner. You can still play the game alone on your own password-protected game world(s) to where you can invite only selected players, and you can additionally play for free on other game worlds, like of your friends that shared the password/s of their world/s with you, and on public Creativerse game worlds on top of that.

* Unlike Minecraft or Infiniminer, Creativerse features 52 well-rewarded Quests that serve as a tutorial at first and then will lead you through the basic gameplay progress. Creativerse is a beginner-friendly game in general, with on-cursor designations, helpful mouse-over tooltips for all items, a list of browsable help files, and a Crafting Menu that lists all common Crafting Recipes and nearly all of the rare free Recipes that can be found in the game together with their (trackable) unlocking requirements from the very start. Event Recipes (Halloween and Christmas) and Store-exclusive Recipes are only sparsely previewed in the Crafting Menu before they were actually collected or bought.
  +
* Since February 19th 2020, Creativerse features a Creator Mode that can be enabled by "Pro" players (anyone who bought the Pro DLC) on any of their game worlds that they have set to any of the Creative World modes/options. World owners of a Creative World can permit other players to use Creator Mode on this game world too, including F2P players. When Creator Mode is enabled by a player, their player character becomes immortal, can use the glider infinitely without Stamina drain and can walk in the air. The player can also remove all blocks (including Ore Nodes), objects and liquids without any requirements in Creator Mode, except objects that are protected by permission settings, filled containers, everything in other players' claims, and End of the World blocks.
  +
* In Creator Mode, the inventory changes into an all-items selection window, where nearly all blocks, objects, liquids, consumables, crafting components and equipment can be simply taken out for free in unlimited amounts. The selection of items depends on the player status ("Pro" or F2P) and on the Store bundles that the player has bought. A few items are exclusive to Creator Mode, for example spawn items for nearly all Creatures, or mushroom blocks that can be placed. All items can be stored in chests while in Creator Mode and such transferred into "Survival" Mode. All items available in Creator Mode can also be given to players on the same game world, F2P and "Pro" players alike, no matter their permission rank.
  +
* In Creativerse, players can save (and copy) their builds by creating Blueprints that allow fast rebuilding by the use of "burst fill", and can be freely customized with different blocks/objects and colors even before they are built. Blueprints can be shared with other players for free via Steam workshop - presently, more than 28000 Blueprints can be downloaded from the Steam workshop for free by all players.
  +
  +
* Creativerse also offers a special Adventure Mode that allows all players to create puzzles, sight-seeing tours, "quest" chains, roller coasters, traps, labyrinths, combat challenges and much more in "instanced worlds" for other Creativerse players to enjoy. Adventures enable you to tell stories and show off your builds without the need to invite other players to your game world.
  +
  +
* Seasonal events (one month around Halloween and another around Christmas) feature minigame-like events that can be initiated anytime in order to collect seasonal items (including a few non-craftable potions, costumes and items) and up to 80 crafting recipes. Many events ask of you to defeat very strong boss mobs, while others challenge you to hit targets with Snowcubes, identify "spies", quickly reach or defend a specific number of spawning capture points and the like, often within a limited timespan.
  +
  +
* Multiplayer gameplay is supported by anti-griefing measures like claims that allow players to protect their builds from being altered, by lockable doors, world options as well as claim options that can be set, like for disabling PvP ("on" by default), and by Admin Controls for player management on your own game world/s.
  +
* Creativerse has many other features that distinguishes the game from its role model Minecraft; for example: all blocks and nearly all objects can be rotated into all 6 directions, nearly all blocks, objects and liquids can be painted in up to 2 colors, a large number of non-blocky objects and shapes can be used, seasonal events provide special game goals, nearly all Creatures can be tamed and harvested from, environmental challenges like heat, cold and corruption need to be counteracted, food can be cooked for many kinds of buffs, doors can be locked, machines can be wired, drones (QBits) allow autobuilding of blueprints, and much more
  +
* Please note that the game is still considered a "live beta" and some bugs are to be expected, especially when it comes to the Creator Mode (inventory) and machines.

  +
  +
Creativerse is currently only available in English and is supposed to feature localizations at a later time.
  +
  +
You can play Creativerse for free for an unlimited time with one game world of your own. If you protect your world with a password, you can play solo there and/or only with selected fellow players (up to 20 at the same time) who you can voluntarily share your password with. World options and admin controls enable you to protect your own game world from damage, while claims let you secure your own property some more. You can optionally set your world to become a "public world" by not entering any password, in which case all other Creativerse players can visit your world freely if they want to.
  +
  +
Even as an F2P player, you aren't limited to only one game world though - you can play for free on many other worlds additionally to your own world, like on any public world and by password-sharing on all of your friends' game worlds.

  +

  +
* All Store (item shop) goods are purely optional and mostly cosmetic, like character Costumes or building blocks and objects with different skins/textures additional to the free ones. Functional consumables from the Store include Rocket Packs (Jetpacks) and QBits (autobuild drones that can build blueprints for you).
  +
* Store-exclusive content does not provide any actual gameplay advantages (e.g. no stronger Weapons or Armor than the free craftable ones, no additional features nor any special options or modes), the same goes for the Welcome Bundle that can be bought in the shape of a DLC alternatively.
  +
  +
* However, the purchasable Pro DLC offers game-relevant additional content like permanently equipped Glider and Flashlight, 20 additional inventory slots, the options to own more game worlds as well as more world options to select, etc. Only "Pro" players can own Creative Worlds where Creator Mode can be enabled. Store prices are also reduced for "Pro" players since February 19th 2020. For more details see below or in the dedicated article about the Pro DLC.
  +
  +
* Claims too can be purchased with ingame Coins alternatively to using ingame resources, and you can own more claims on top of that if you buy them with Coins - up to 255 on each game world.
  +
  +
* Another purchasable type of game content are building kits that can be bought with Coins and contain all placeable blocks and objects for Blueprints (both the original ones and/or customized ones). Building kits are not required to build Blueprints at all though, they merely save resource-collecting time and function as a theoretically infinite supply of all placeable blocks and objects, including rare event items.
  +
  +
* In return, daily login chests provide players with free useful items (best healing potion, best mining extractor, rare crafting materials, etc.) every 4 hours, often crowned with seasonal items like special potions. There aren't any purchasable additional daily login chests nor "loot boxes" in Creativerse.
  +
  +
* Occasional redemption Codes reward players with free stuff for specific Creativerse-related outgame activities, like for watching Playful's livestreams during server downtimes on Twitch, following them on social media like Twitter and/or their discord chat.
  +
* Gifts like very rare Costumes and/or Coins can be obtained by winning one of the ongoing building competitions and other contests like announced on the official Steam forums for Creativerse.
  +
* Please note that you will receive Steam Trading Cards for Creativerse-related purchases only, not for playing the game as per Valve's Steam rules for all F2P games. Playful does not have any control over which Steam Trading Cards you will receive, since this is a Steam service provided by Valve
  +
  +
* If you do not want to spend any money for special Recipe Packs in the Store, you can simply ask other players to craft Store-exclusive blocks and items for you on your own game world (you will usually have to collect all of the necessary materials at first though). <br>An official trading forum has been created for Creativerse where you can contact friendly helpers who have usually played Creativerse for a long time and have proven trustworthy: https://steamcommunity.com/app/280790/tradingforum/ . You may also ask them for spare rare Recipe pages/books or event-specific crafts on these forums.

  +

  +
Creativerse is a sandbox game that does not define one specific game goal to be reached, but lets players set their own objectives. Even the quests are purely optionally, although their rewards are very useful and only few players would want to refrain from gaining them.
  +
  +
The game does not feature any achievements nor a story narrative. Instead, it offers a short starting tutorial with a few explanatory onscreen messages, explanatory quests and help files that you can browse freely.
  +
  +
Creativerse players usually define individual sandbox game goals for themselves.
  +
  +
* Completing all existent Quests is probably the most popular player goal. The first category of (tutorial-like) Quests will reward you with 350 Coins in total (for the ingame Store). <br>All other Quests will unlock several Badges that will grant you permanent buffs for your player character - one for each Quest category that you will complete. Questing will automatically lead you through all the basic game features and all game world regions (surface biomes and underground layers alike). <br>Quests will help you with crafting (or obtaining) one tier of equipment after the other (Mining Cells, Armor, Weapons), also with crafting a few of the most important building blocks, objects and items like Explosives and Potions, getting used to basic gameplay features like Taming and Quests will also lead you to encounter nearly all Creatures that exist in Creativerse.
  +
  +
* Another popular player-defined aim is to create Blueprints that every Creativerse player can publish and download for free via Steam workshop. <br>Blueprints made by players and also Blueprints made by Playful can be downloaded and freely customized by anyone (simply exchange the suggested blocks and objects with those you prefer yourself) to quickly recreate sophisticated builds, complicated machines and also Arc Signs that feature decorative images. <br>Blueprints enable you to use "burst fill" that will place several blocks or items of the same kind with just one mouse click. You can use Blueprints to buy large numbers of any placeable block and/or object with Coins to start building right away without having to collect the materials. However, you can always simply decline that offer and instead gather all the required resources for free.
  +
  +
* One more popular game goal would be besting (or taming) either all existent Creatures (except untameable event enemies) or at least the most challenging "boss mobs" that the game has to offer outside event times: Rockzilla, the giant crab that can only be summoned by building an "altar" from specific blocks, and the tough twisted "Thing" that spawns on Corrupted Blocks and can be found on the deepest world layer, the dark and poisonous Corruption layer.
  +
  +
* Unlocking and collecting all Crafting Recipes by harvesting, mining, crafting, farming, cooking and treasure hunting is another one of the optional game goals that many Creativerse players set themselves.
  +
* 9 crafting recipes are unlocked from the start. 267 recipes can be unlocked for free by crafting and gathering materials, 1 can be unlocked by registering your e-mail with Playful.
  +
* rare Recipes come in the shape of collectible Recipe pages and Recipe books that can be learnt (consumed) in order to permanently add their recipes to the crafting menu. One of these rare crafting Recipes (for the Super Extractor) can only be obtained from the strong Thing and its Halloween brethren Th'ang. Two other crafting recipes (Year of the Pig Lantern and Plum Blossom) can only be obtained from Pigsy-type Creatures, mainly via pet-harvest. 35 other rare Recipes can either be obtained from randomly spawning Treasure Chests or more rarely from Creatures too. Any surplus rare Recipes can be stored and given to fellow players. While items cannot be transferred between game worlds, learnt rare crafting recipes are available in the crafting menu on all game worlds
  +
* 80 seasonal crafting recipes can only be obtained during seasonal events around Halloween and Christmas. The rarest ones can not even be traded with other players directly, but can only be claimed for a limited timespan - after they've been unlocked by tallied up actions of the whole community, and only until the end of the respective seasonal event. Sometimes, seasonal Recipes can be bought in the shape of tradeable Recipe books and/or Recipe pages, but only as long as the seasonal events are ongoing.
  +
* up to 159 crafting recipes can optionally be bought in the Store with Coins - these recipes usually also cannot be shared, but you can always ask fellow players (who have bought these recipes) to craft Store-exclusive blocks or items for you on your world.
  +
* last but not least, very special crafting Recipes (like for the Rainbownator 5000 and the Heart-Shaped Box) and rare Costumes (like different colored Winter Mittens) can only be obtained via redemption Code.
  +
  +
* As one of the most challenging game objectives, Player-made Adventure<nowiki/>s can be created and played by all Creativerse users for free. Each Adventure can offers its own aim/s to be achieved like defined by its creator. <br>Many Adventures include puzzles and/or traps, others are simple sight-seeing tours of large buildings, or will lead you through labyrinths or let you ride "rollercoasters" made from Fans on Ice Slope railways, and the most popular ones even have their own interesting and creative stories to tell.
  +
  +
* During seasonal event times (Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign for a month around Halloween and Elfi's Wonderland for a month around Christmas), temporary optional game goals can be accomplished. <br>The seasonal events usually evolve around collecting rare event-related crafting recipes and non-craftable collectible items that can be gained by hunting seasonal spawns and completing "mini-games" like uncovering spies by following hints, throwing snowballs at targets or creatures within a certain timespan, activating or holding capture points or vanquishing event-specific very strong Creatures. These challenges can be started whenever you want by placing seasonal "summoning items" (Haunted Idols and Trog Traps)
  +
  +
* Please note that there are no player-made licit downloadable Mods for Creativerse. Searching for stuff like that on the Steam workshop for Creativerse will amount to nothing. <br>If you should ever be offered any so-called "modifications" for this free game by anyone, you need to know that these can only be hacks and could get you into serious trouble with the law if you make use of them without asking Playful beforehand.

  +
  +
Game worlds
  +
Creativerse game worlds feature 10+ different looking surface Biomes as well as 4 underground Layers, each of which provides diverse biome-specific blocks, sometimes specific liquids and/or plants like trees, and endemic Creatures (all of which can only spawn on specific ground blocks and will provide you with crafting materials when killed or tamed) and sometimes environmental challenges like freezing cold, burning heat or poisonous Corruption.
  +
  +
Creativerse game worlds are not procedurally generated nor "infinite", instead they are based on template worlds in the size of 10,240 blocks long by 10,240 blocks wide and 256 blocks in height each. So you can easily compare the parts of your map that you have already discovered with the maps of the templates in the Wiki article Worlds if you want to know where you are and in which direction to go to find specific Biomes.
  +
  +
Mining and harvesting
  +
ArcTek Gauntlet's powered by Mining Cells are the one convenient tool to equip for mining (pulling) all kinds of blocks that the game worlds consist of, also scooping up liquids, harvesting plants and materials (except for Ores that are won from Nodes with the help of single-use Extractors), picking up objects, as well as for pushing Creatures away or even killing them efficiently with a "ground smash".
  +
  +
Equipping stronger Mining Cells enables players to dig deeper through the different strata made of increasingly harder rocks to collect rarer and better resources. While all Mining Cells do have limited durability, strong Mining Cells are able to pull "softer" blocks without losing durability at all. The Lumite Mining Cell can pull/mine all blocks except for Lava layer blocks and Corrupted blocks infinitely without falling apart. Repairing equipment is not possible in Creativerse (yet).
  +
  +
Transportation
  +
A personal Touchstone serves as the freely placeable respawn point for players and home-teleport that they can use from anywhere on the game world within seconds. Additionally to that, a theoretically infinite number of craftable and also freely placeable Teleporters ensures easy and fast travel across the large game worlds. "Railways" or "rollercoasters" can be built from Ice Slopes, Ladders, etc. - usually used together with Fans.
  +
  +
Crafting
  +
Crafting is a main feature of Creativerse. 9 recipes are unlocked in the crafting menu right from the start. One recipe (Flare) can be unlocked by registering your e-mail with Playful. Hundreds of common Crafting Recipes can be unlocked for free by mining, crafting and exploring. Many rare free crafting recipes can be obtained by hunting for treasure chests and alternatively specific types of creatures (mainly Keepas and Things).
  +
  +
Three recipes can only be obtained by fighting or taming (Things and Pigsy-type Creatures except for corrupted ones). Many purchasable crafting recipes can only be bought in the Store. Dozens of additional seasonal recipes (Halloween & Christmas) are usually only temporarily available - unless players will want to share surplus ones that they have collected.
  +
  +
Additionally to the crafts that can be made in the crafting menu, hundreds of block shapes can be created in a Processor and crafting materials can be made in a Forge. Players can craft and place equipment, potions, explosives, wireable machines, luminaires, nicely designed furniture like usable beds and chairs, fences, doors and wicket gates, windows, stairs, slopes, corner blocks, display containers, beacons, fans, as well as several storage items of different sizes and designs. Nearly all placeable items can be rotated into all directions.
  +
  +
Farming and Cooking
  +
Foodstuff and consumables will grant all kinds of buffs. Players can grow Crops and can then cook up to 36 types of Food from only 4 recipes by combining different ingredients. Some consumables like healing Mushrooms can simply be collected, Potions are made in the crafting menu. Players can also craft (or find) and then throw Explosives with various effects that will change the environment.
  +
  +
Exploring
  +
Explorers can aim to uncover the large Maps that consist of 676 areas (for each game world) throughout which they can hunt valuable findings like randomly spawning Treasure Chests with rare crafting recipes inside, or uncommon Creatures like Keepas that will drop valuable stuff. Many types of Armor, Weapons and Tools (like Extractors) of increasing quality cannot only be crafted but also rarely found in such random Treasure Chests.
  +
  +
Flying
  +
The ability to fly with a Glider can only be activated by buying the Pro DLC, but there's also Bat Juice, Love Potions and Blizzard Potions that can be collected during event-times and equipable Rocket Packs (which lose durability and eventually break despite their infinity symbol) that will also enable flying for a limited time for everyone, however with a slightly different jetpack-like flying motion. Other than this, players can use air walk after enabling Creator Mode on Creative Worlds. Moreover, the camera drone can be moved freely as well.
  +
  +
Fighting Creatures
  +
Imaginative Creatures of 16 types in up to 42 biome-specific variations (color, size, strength, toughness) populate all areas of the game world except for bodies of liquids. Some Creatures are aggressive (however "Pro" players can set all Creatures on their game worlds to be defensive only), some are peaceful, many are capable of unique special attacks, some are rare and some are extraordinarily tough and strong (mainly event Creatures like W'urm or Troggington).
  +
  +
Adventurers might want to visit the many large Caves and underground layers populated with dangerous underground Creatures. Rather dangerous animals also roam the surface world at night and even specific biomes (Canyons, Swamplands, Jungles) during the day.
  +
  +
Taming Creatures
  +
All common Creatures can be hunted and/or tamed (except for a few seasonal event-specific Creatures) to become livestock to be fed and then harvested from regularly. Since December 2018, pet-harvests are generally more fruitful than drops obtained by killing (with a few exceptions again, mainly Things and Th'ang).
  +
  +
Farming and Summoning Creatures
  +
Since Creatures always spawn on "their" dedicated natural blocks, optional artificial biomes (or "arenas") can be built for easier hunting means.
  +
  +
Seasonal Creatures as well as NPCs will spawn around Halloween and Christmas, while "summoning items" become available during these event-times that will spawn exceptionally strong and tough Event Creatures to be bested. The summoning items (Haunted Idols and Trog Traps) can optionally be bought via block kits for Blueprints throughout the year.
  +
  +
While certain Creatures can be fought or tamed to receive rare recipes and high quality items (Things "drop" Diamond tier armor, mining cells and swords), there are also "secret" giant crabs called "Rockzillas" that can only be "summoned" by building very specific altars.
  +
  +
Fighting players
  +
PvP (player versus player combat) is enabled by default. It can be turned off on all game worlds by the world owner, but can additionally to that also be either turned off or on for player claims ("on" by default too). This way PvP-"arenas" can be created on game worlds where PvP is otherwise disabled, and Non-PvP "safe" areas can be created on game worlds where PvP is usually switched on.
  +
  +
Dying
  +
When "defeated" (killed), player characters will "drop" urns (called Death Statues) with either only their inventory content inside or even their equipment and quickbar-content too, depending on combat difficulty settings of the game world they're on.
  +
  +
Player characters will respawn at their own freely placeable Touchstone (after it has been placed) and can then retrieve their Death Statues that won't ever vanish, led there by an indicator on their compass and a beacon. If PvP is enabled, these urns can be looted by the victor though. On the other hand, if the "Pro" world option "easy combat difficulty" is enabled, players will even keep all of their stuff when their character perishes temporarily.
  +
  +
Building
  +
Builders can choose from a large variety of natural blocks that the game worlds are made of, as well as from a wide range of crafted colorful Building Blocks that are fully rotatable, including stairs and slopes/roofs with inner and outer corner blocks, cylindrical-shaped columns, slabs (half the size of one block), Furniture like chairs that player characters can sit on, lockable Doors, transparent Windows (that cannot be opened), colored lamps and torches of different illumination "power", ladders that only players can use, Fences with wicket gates that Creatures cannot overcome, easily scoopable and placeable liquids, lots of decorative objects, several display objects that allow to lay tables or to place stuff on wall shelves etc., glowing cubic and also flat LEDs that can be set to nearly any color and machines that allow you to create colorful images & text with signs and much more.
  +
  +
Since update R63 on February 19th 2020, players can paint nearly all blocks, objects and liquids in the game world using a large color palette. Many objects and blocks consist of two colors that can both be altered by painting.
  +
  +
With update R63, Creator Mode was implemented as well that allows players who have bought the Pro DLC to create and customize Creative Worlds and enable Creator Mode there. Creator Mode makes player characters immortal, enables them to glide unlimited and to walk in the air. It also provides Pro players with a selection of nearly all items that Creativerse has to offer in infinite amounts. Pro players can allow other players on their Creative Worlds to use Creator Mode too and can share all items with these players if the world owners want to.
  +
  +
Machines, Electricity
  +
"Electric" devices ("Machines") such as Switches, Pressure Plates, Number Pads or Sensors together with Logic Circuits allow players to lock/open doors, switch on lights, spawn Creatures on Mob Spawner, define custom loot for player-spawned Creatures, can make individually filled Treasure Chests appear on Loot Spawners, or can make walls, floors, blocks or liquids appear from a distance with Block Phasers, together with Sensors that will note when players or Creatures step into specific areas and can be combined with timers too.
  +
  +
Blueprints
  +
Blueprints for thousands of preset buildings made by players are available for free in the Creativerse Steam workshop and can help you with building large structures (also together with friends) that can be customized too. You only have to subscribe to any of them in the workshop for free and you can then build these builds ingame a lot faster than usual by using "burst fill".
  +
  +
Building kits containing all the suggested standard blocks for Blueprints can be bought in the Store to save time, however these blocks kits can also be used for free building. You do not have to spend any money to create or use Blueprints though! You can just collect all the required materials yourself and/or you can costumize any Blueprint with any type of blocks and items that you can craft for free.
  +
  +
Optionally, Blueprints can be customized with placeable blocks, materials, objects and/or items in a specific amount in order to conveniently buy them via Building Kits for Coins.
  +
  +
Renewable resources / blocks
  +
Everything that can be placed directly into game worlds (not merely into slots of display containers though) is available in theoretically infinite amounts in Creativerse via Building Kits for Blueprints. As a consequence, only Lumite Ore and every non-placeable item that is made from this rarest type of Ore is not infinitely available in Creativerse for everyone.
  +
  +
However, Creator Mode allows "Pro" players to obtain most existing blocks, objects, crafting component, liquid, food and even equipment in infinite amounts for free, including Lumite Bars and nearly all existing non-placeable items that can be made from Lumite too. Moreover, "Pro" players can hand out such items to other players on the same game world.
  +
  +
Other than that, all types of animal drops (most of these are not placeable) including Diamond equipment, every content of randomly spawning Treasure Chests (which includes several types of basic blocks too) as well as all (re)growable and renewable materials/items are "infinite" for free. Even 2 of the 5 existing Ore Nodes can be created by players freely and infinitely (Coal Nodes and Diamond Nodes).
  +
  +
Claims
  +
Areas can be claimed and protected by their owners with different settings like disabling fire spreading, corruption spreading or terrain-affecting Explosives.
  +
  +
Traps and Puzzles can be created by using activation devices, trap doors, Block Phasers, Mob Spawners, Loot Spawners, SR-NOR latches with Logic Circuits, Sensors, Number Pads, Pressure Plates, Switches/Levers and much more like that.
  +
  +
Background Lore
  +
Hints to the background story of the Creativerse universe with a slight touch of Science Fiction (Arctek technology) can be found in the shape of rare journal s and Data Chips in randomly spawning Treasure Chests together with other findings like rare crafting recipes, equipment, pet accessories and useful materials.

  +
Creativerse is for free for an unlimited time and without any level restrictions. No money has to be spent to enjoy the majority of game content. The optional purchasable offers do not influence the gaming progress noticeably, cannot provide you with stronger weapons, are not necessary to build Blueprints (Blueprints are customizable in order to use free blocks) and are not required to unlock any actually game-relevant features.
  +
  +
The "Pro" DLC (purchasable directly via Steam, not available in the ingame Store) is the only advantageous purchasable addition for Creativerse that grants a larger inventory, more own game worlds, more world options, two more free claims; and might even give players a slight advantage in PvP combat by doubling stamina points, by enabling them to fly with a glider and enhancing night vision with their flashlight. "Pro" players get discount prices in the Store, and on top of it all, "Pro" players can turn their game worlds into Creative Worlds in order to enable Creator Mode there.
  +
  +
The ingame Store mainly allures players with fancy looking blocks, objects (like furniture) that can be crafted additionally to the large free basic assortment of crafts, and Costumes that can be used in order to customize player characters (Costumes cannot be crafted and are account-bound).
  +
  +
The majority of crafting recipes in the crafting menu has to be unlocked before they can be used - either by gathering specific resources in the game world for free, or by crafting or obtaining other items first.
  +
  +
There is also a significant number of free seasonal recipes to be collected during event-times, plus an assortment of free rare Recipes that can mainly be obtained by finding random Treasure Chests, while a few of them can be collected as rare drops from Creatures. Many of the rare collectible recipes can be obtained from both Treasure Chests and Creatures alike by chance.
  +
  +
F2P players currently receive one game world of their own where they can play solo (password protection) as well as together with any players that they will share their password with. They can set all the "basic" world options for their own game world, like disabling PvP (enabled by default), disabling the use of area-chaning Explosives like TNT, Ore Extractors and Excavators , as well as Fire spreading (enabled by default) and/or Corruption spreading (enabled by default).
  +
  +
"Default to Visitor" is enabled by default, which means that everyone visiting the game world cannot destroy the environment or the creations and also can neither fight creatures nor other players (even if PvP is enabled) until they are "promoted" to higher permission ranks. They can still use teleporters, open doors, use switches and number pads and the like, can loot randomly spawning treasure chests, willingly dropped player bags, loot bags of creatures (that could have drowned for example), and all storage containers as well as crafting stations and other objects with slots that are set to "everyone" ("builders by default").
  +
  +
Free players can additionally to that play, build, explore, craft and fight on any public world and on game worlds of their friends. They can also make their own game worlds public (open to everyone) optionally. While F2P players cannot turn their game worlds into Creative Worlds, they can play on Creative Worlds that were created by "Pro" players and can use Creator Mode there if the world owners permit them to. F2P players can also use all items that other players craft for them, and they can learn rare and even seasonal recipes if other players give to them on their own game worlds (items are non-transferrable between game worlds).
  +
  +
F2P players can create and play Adventures freely too. They can use the painting feature without any restrictions for free. And they can create Blueprints for the Workshop or for their personal use, as well as make use of (and customize) any player-made and developer-created Blueprint from the workshop for free. On their claims, F2P players can disable PvP (enabled by default). They can also disable (or enable) any types of Explosives that could damage the environment/their creations, and possibly abusable game mechanics like Fire spreading and/or Corruption spreading.
  +
  +
The "Pro" upgrade allows players to create up to 12 game worlds of their own where they can switch on/off additional optional world options like an alternative look of the sky, making all Creatures defensive, providing low gravity to the game world, a higher treasure spawn rate, a higher plant spawn rate, reduced Creature spawn rate, hard or easy combat difficulty (additionally to the default medium difficulty), and/or the option to transfer already unlocked common crafting recipes from other game worlds. These settings can be changed anytime.
  +
  +
"Pro" player characters also get 2 free claims on each game world, 20 additional inventory-slots (makes 60 slots in total), 200 stamina points instead of 100, a glider and a switchable flashlight as permanent additional equipments, usable on all game worlds (except for some Adventures). "Pro" players can turn their game worlds into Creative Worlds and enable Creator Mode there, and "Pro" players can also get many Store bundles for a reduced price in ingame Coins.
  +
  +
More "Pro" benefits are usually added during event-times for free (after which you can keep them), like the Ghostly Flashlight for Halloween 2017 and again for Halloween 2018, the Steam Glider and Jack-o-Lantern for Halloween 2018, or the Reaudolph Flashlight for Christmas 2019. Even F2P players can obtain these items ingame, but they can only see and activate them after buying or obtaining the Pro DLC.
  +
  +
Early backers and everyone who has ever spent money in the Store of Creativerse before August 2nd 2016 have automatically been promoted to the "Pro"-status together with release/update R33. If you are a returnee who has paid for the game in Early Access, please make sure to activate the check mark next to the "Pro"-DLC in the Steam library for Creativerse.
  +
  +
Players who have played for free up until August 2016 have kept all their old game worlds and have additionally to that been given one new game world. If you should now start on a new game world, you can exit the game world, click the "Worlds" button on the main menu and on the "My Worlds" TAB, then you'll be able to see and enter your older game world.

Crafting
Creatures

Creativerse is a block-based online RPG sandbox game developed by Playful Corp. The game can be downloaded from Steam for free with optional pay-content, and is still being extended.

This page informs you about the general gameplay and features of Creativerse, about access requirements, game goals, links to several official Creativerse pages and the limitations of F2P content.

Gameplay Basics
Wiki-wordmark

Creativerse belongs to the genre of 3D-block-based and block-by-block building games (like Minecraft) that was introduced to the world of gaming by Zach(tronic)'s game Infiniminer in 2009 (released in 2011).

Creativerse itself became available on Steam in purchasable Early Access on 2014-08-12, was launched free to play on 2017-05-08 and is now classified a “live open beta” by the developers since 2018-05-01.

Different from its predecessors, Creativerse is a multiplayer online game that you can play completely for free and optionally solo, but only via Steam and an enabled internet connection; it cannot be played offline.

  • Unlike Minecraft or Infiniminer, Creativerse features 52 well-rewarded Quests that serve as a tutorial at first and then will lead you through the basic gameplay progress.
  • Since February 19th 2020, Creativerse features a Creator Mode that can be enabled by "Pro" players (anyone who bought the Pro DLC) on any of their game worlds that they have set to any of the Creative World modes/options.
  • In Creator Mode, the inventory changes into an all-items selection window, where nearly all blocks, objects, liquids, consumables, crafting components and equipment can be simply taken out for free in unlimited amounts.
  • In Creativerse, players can save (and copy) their builds by creating Blueprints that allow fast rebuilding by the use of "burst fill", and can be freely customized with different blocks/objects and colors even before they are built. Blueprints can be shared with other players for free via Steam workshop - presently, more than 28000 Blueprints can be downloaded from the Steam workshop for free by all players.
  • Creativerse also offers a special Adventure Mode that allows all players to create puzzles, sight-seeing tours, "quest" chains, roller coasters, traps, labyrinths, combat challenges and much more in "instanced worlds" for other Creativerse players to enjoy. Adventures enable you to tell stories and show off your builds without the need to invite other players to your game world.
  • Seasonal events (one month around Halloween and another around Christmas) feature minigame-like events that can be initiated anytime in order to collect seasonal items (including a few non-craftable potions, costumes and items) and up to 80 crafting recipes. Many events ask of you to defeat very strong boss mobs, while others challenge you to hit targets with Snowcubes, identify "spies", quickly reach or defend a specific number of spawning capture points and the like, often within a limited timespan.
  • Multiplayer gameplay is supported by anti-griefing measures like claims that allow players to protect their builds from being altered, by lockable doors, world options as well as claim options that can be set, like for disabling PvP ("on" by default), and by Admin Controls for player management on your own game world/s.
  • Creativerse has many other features that distinguishes the game from its role model Minecraft; for example: all blocks and nearly all objects can be rotated into all 6 directions, nearly all blocks, objects and liquids can be painted in up to 2 colors, a large number of non-blocky objects and shapes can be used, seasonal events provide special game goals, nearly all Creatures can be tamed and harvested from, environmental challenges like heat, cold and corruption need to be counteracted, food can be cooked for many kinds of buffs, doors can be locked, machines can be wired, drones (QBits) allow autobuilding of blueprints, and much more
  • Please note that the game is still considered a "live beta" and some bugs are to be expected, especially when it comes to the Creator Mode (inventory) and machines.

  • All Store (item shop) goods are purely optional and mostly cosmetic, like character Costumes or building blocks and objects with different skins/textures additional to the free ones. Functional consumables from the Store include Rocket Packs (Jetpacks) and QBits (autobuild drones that can build blueprints for you).
  • Store-exclusive content does not provide any actual gameplay advantages (e.g. no stronger Weapons or Armor than the free craftable ones, no additional features nor any special options or modes), the same goes for the Welcome Bundle that can be bought in the shape of a DLC alternatively.
  • However, the purchasable Pro DLC offers game-relevant additional content like permanently equipped Glider and Flashlight, 20 additional inventory slots, the options to own more game worlds as well as more world options to select, etc. Only "Pro" players can own Creative Worlds where Creator Mode can be enabled. Store prices are also reduced for "Pro" players since February 19th 2020. For more details see below or in the dedicated article about the Pro DLC.
  • Claims too can be purchased with ingame Coins alternatively to using ingame resources, and you can own more claims on top of that if you buy them with Coins - up to 255 on each game world.
  • Another purchasable type of game content are building kits that can be bought with Coins and contain all placeable blocks and objects for Blueprints (both the original ones and/or customized ones). Building kits are not required to build Blueprints at all though, they merely save resource-collecting time and function as a theoretically infinite supply of all placeable blocks and objects, including rare event items.
  • In return, daily login chests provide players with free useful items (best healing potion, best mining extractor, rare crafting materials, etc.) every 4 hours, often crowned with seasonal items like special potions. There aren't any purchasable additional daily login chests nor "loot boxes" in Creativerse.
  • Occasional redemption Codes reward players with free stuff for specific Creativerse-related outgame activities, like for watching Playful's livestreams during server downtimes on Twitch, following them on social media like Twitter and/or their discord chat.
  • Gifts like very rare Costumes and/or Coins can be obtained by winning one of the ongoing building competitions and other contests like announced on the official Steam forums for Creativerse.
  • Please note that you will receive Steam Trading Cards for Creativerse-related purchases only, not for playing the game as per Valve's Steam rules for all F2P games. Playful does not have any control over which Steam Trading Cards you will receive, since this is a Steam service provided by Valve
  • If you do not want to spend any money for special Recipe Packs in the Store, you can simply ask other players to craft Store-exclusive blocks and items for you on your own game world (you will usually have to collect all of the necessary materials at first though).
An official trading forum has been created for Creativerse where you can contact friendly helpers who have usually played Creativerse for a long time and have proven trustworthy: https://steamcommunity.com/app/280790/tradingforum/ . You may also ask them for spare rare Recipe pages/books or event-specific crafts on these forums.
Game Goals
Creativerse quest mushroom for error 2018-05-03 12-19-27-43

Creativerse is a sandbox game that does not define one specific game goal to be reached, but lets players set their own objectives. Even the quests are purely optionally, although their rewards are very useful and only few players would want to refrain from gaining them.

The game does not feature any achievements nor a story narrative. Instead, it offers a short starting tutorial with a few explanatory onscreen messages, explanatory quests and help files that you can browse freely.

Creativerse players usually define individual sandbox game goals for themselves.

  • Completing all existent Quests is probably the most popular player goal. The first category of (tutorial-like) Quests will reward you with 350 Coins in total (for the ingame Store).
All other Quests will unlock several Badges that will grant you permanent buffs for your player character - one for each Quest category that you will complete. Questing will automatically lead you through all the basic game features and all game world regions (surface biomes and underground layers alike).
Quests will help you with crafting (or obtaining) one tier of equipment after the other (Mining Cells, Armor, Weapons), also with crafting a few of the most important building blocks, objects and items like Explosives and Potions, getting used to basic gameplay features like Taming and Quests will also lead you to encounter nearly all Creatures that exist in Creativerse.
  • Another popular player-defined aim is to create Blueprints that every Creativerse player can publish and download for free via Steam workshop.
Blueprints made by players and also Blueprints made by Playful can be downloaded and freely customized by anyone (simply exchange the suggested blocks and objects with those you prefer yourself) to quickly recreate sophisticated builds, complicated machines and also Arc Signs that feature decorative images.
Blueprints enable you to use "burst fill" that will place several blocks or items of the same kind with just one mouse click. You can use Blueprints to buy large numbers of any placeable block and/or object with Coins to start building right away without having to collect the materials. However, you can always simply decline that offer and instead gather all the required resources for free.
  • One more popular game goal would be besting (or taming) either all existent Creatures (except untameable event enemies) or at least the most challenging "boss mobs" that the game has to offer outside event times: Rockzilla, the giant crab that can only be summoned by building an "altar" from specific blocks, and the tough twisted "Thing" that spawns on Corrupted Blocks and can be found on the deepest world layer, the dark and poisonous Corruption layer.
  • Unlocking and collecting all Crafting Recipes by harvesting, mining, crafting, farming, cooking and treasure hunting is another one of the optional game goals that many Creativerse players set themselves.
  • 9 crafting recipes are unlocked from the start. 267 recipes can be unlocked for free by crafting and gathering materials, 1 can be unlocked by registering your e-mail with Playful.
  • rare Recipes come in the shape of collectible Recipe pages and Recipe books that can be learnt (consumed) in order to permanently add their recipes to the crafting menu.
  • 80 seasonal crafting recipes can only be obtained during seasonal events around Halloween and Christmas.
  • up to 159 crafting recipes can optionally be bought in the Store with Coins - these recipes usually also cannot be shared, but you can always ask fellow players (who have bought these recipes) to craft Store-exclusive blocks or items for you on your world.
  • last but not least, very special crafting Recipes (like for the Rainbownator 5000 and the Heart-Shaped Box) and rare Costumes (like different colored Winter Mittens) can only be obtained via redemption Code.
  • As one of the most challenging game objectives, Player-made Adventures can be created and played by all Creativerse users for free. Each Adventure can offers its own aim/s to be achieved like defined by its creator.
Many Adventures include puzzles and/or traps, others are simple sight-seeing tours of large buildings, or will lead you through labyrinths or let you ride "rollercoasters" made from Fans on Ice Slope railways, and the most popular ones even have their own interesting and creative stories to tell.
  • During seasonal event times (Pumpkiru's Candy Campaign for a month around Halloween and Elfi's Wonderland for a month around Christmas), temporary optional game goals can be accomplished.
The seasonal events usually evolve around collecting rare event-related crafting recipes and non-craftable collectible items that can be gained by hunting seasonal spawns and completing "mini-games" like uncovering spies by following hints, throwing snowballs at targets or creatures within a certain timespan, activating or holding capture points or vanquishing event-specific very strong Creatures. These challenges can be started whenever you want by placing seasonal "summoning items" (Haunted Idols and Trog Traps)
  • Please note that there are no player-made licit downloadable Mods for Creativerse. Searching for stuff like that on the Steam workshop for Creativerse will amount to nothing.
If you should ever be offered any so-called "modifications" for this free game by anyone, you need to know that these can only be hacks and could get you into serious trouble with the law if you make use of them without asking Playful beforehand.

Game Features
Creativerse map and claims R29

Game worlds

Creativerse game worlds feature 10+ different looking surface Biomes as well as 4 underground Layers, each of which provides diverse biome-specific blocks, sometimes specific liquids and/or plants like trees, and endemic Creatures (all of which can only spawn on specific ground blocks and will provide you with crafting materials when killed or tamed) and sometimes environmental challenges like freezing cold, burning heat or poisonous Corruption.

Mining and harvesting

ArcTek Gauntlets powered by Mining Cells are the one convenient tool to equip for mining (pulling) all kinds of blocks that the game worlds consist of, also scooping up liquids, harvesting plants and materials (except for Ores that are won from Nodes with the help of single-use Extractors), picking up objects, as well as for pushing Creatures away or even killing them efficiently with a "ground smash".

Transportation

A personal Touchstone serves as the freely placeable respawn point for players and home-teleport that they can use from anywhere on the game world within seconds. Additionally to that, a theoretically infinite number of craftable and also freely placeable Teleporters ensures easy and fast travel across the large game worlds. "Railways" or "rollercoasters" can be built from Ice Slopes, Ladders, etc. - usually used together with Fans.

Crafting

Crafting is a main feature of Creativerse. 9 recipes are unlocked in the crafting menu right from the start. One recipe (Flare) can be unlocked by registering your e-mail with Playful. Hundreds of common Crafting Recipes can be unlocked for free by mining, crafting and exploring. Many rare free crafting recipes can be obtained by hunting for treasure chests and alternatively specific types of creatures (mainly Keepas and Things).

Farming and Cooking

Foodstuff and consumables will grant all kinds of buffs. Players can grow Crops and can then cook up to 36 types of Food from only 4 recipes by combining different ingredients. Some consumables like healing Mushrooms can simply be collected, Potions are made in the crafting menu. Players can also craft (or find) and then throw Explosives with various effects that will change the environment.

Exploring

Explorers can aim to uncover the large Maps that consist of 676 areas (for each game world) throughout which they can hunt valuable findings like randomly spawning Treasure Chests with rare crafting recipes inside, or uncommon Creatures like Keepas that will drop valuable stuff. Many types of Armor, Weapons and Tools (like Extractors) of increasing quality cannot only be crafted but also rarely found in such random Treasure Chests.

Flying

The ability to fly with a Glider can only be activated by buying the Pro DLC, but there's also Bat Juice, Love Potions and Blizzard Potions that can be collected during event-times and equipable Rocket Packs (which lose durability and eventually break despite their infinity symbol) that will also enable flying for a limited time for everyone, however with a slightly different jetpack-like flying motion. Other than this, players can use air walk after enabling Creator Mode on Creative Worlds. Moreover, the camera drone can be moved freely as well.

Fighting Creatures

Imaginative Creatures of 16 types in up to 42 biome-specific variations (color, size, strength, toughness) populate all areas of the game world except for bodies of liquids. Some Creatures are aggressive (however "Pro" players can set all Creatures on their game worlds to be defensive only), some are peaceful, many are capable of unique special attacks, some are rare and some are extraordinarily tough and strong (mainly event Creatures like W'urm or Troggington).

Adventurers might want to visit the many large Caves and underground layers populated with dangerous underground Creatures. Rather dangerous animals also roam the surface world at night and even specific biomes (Canyons, Swamplands, Jungles) during the day.

Taming Creatures

All common Creatures can be hunted and/or tamed (except for a few seasonal event-specific Creatures) to become livestock to be fed and then harvested from regularly. Since December 2018, pet-harvests are generally more fruitful than drops obtained by killing (with a few exceptions again, mainly Things and Th'ang).

Farming and Summoning Creatures

Since Creatures always spawn on "their" dedicated natural blocks, optional artificial biomes (or "arenas") can be built for easier hunting means.

While certain Creatures can be fought or tamed to receive rare recipes and high quality items (Things "drop" Diamond tier armor, mining cells and swords), there are also "secret" giant crabs called "Rockzillas" that can only be "summoned" by building very specific altars.

Fighting players

PvP (player versus player combat) is enabled by default. It can be turned off on all game worlds by the world owner, but can additionally to that also be either turned off or on for player claims ("on" by default too). This way PvP-"arenas" can be created on game worlds where PvP is otherwise disabled, and Non-PvP "safe" areas can be created on game worlds where PvP is usually switched on.

Dying

When "defeated" (killed), player characters will "drop" urns (called Death Statues) with either only their inventory content inside or even their equipment and quickbar-content too, depending on combat difficulty settings of the game world they're on.

Building

Since update R63 on February 19th 2020, players can paint nearly all blocks, objects and liquids in the game world using a large color palette. Many objects and blocks consist of two colors that can both be altered by painting.

Machines, Electricity

"Electric" devices ("Machines") such as Switches, Pressure Plates, Number Pads or Sensors together with Logic Circuits allow players to lock/open doors, switch on lights, spawn Creatures on Mob Spawner, define custom loot for player-spawned Creatures, can make individually filled Treasure Chests appear on Loot Spawners, or can make walls, floors, blocks or liquids appear from a distance with Block Phasers, together with Sensors that will note when players or Creatures step into specific areas and can be combined with timers too.

Blueprints

Blueprints for thousands of preset buildings made by players are available for free in the Creativerse Steam workshop and can help you with building large structures (also together with friends) that can be customized too. You only have to subscribe to any of them in the workshop for free and you can then build these builds ingame a lot faster than usual by using "burst fill".

Optionally, Blueprints can be customized with placeable blocks, materials, objects and/or items in a specific amount in order to conveniently buy them via Building Kits for Coins.

Renewable resources / blocks

Everything that can be placed directly into game worlds (not merely into slots of display containers though) is available in theoretically infinite amounts in Creativerse via Building Kits for Blueprints. As a consequence, only Lumite Ore and every non-placeable item that is made from this rarest type of Ore is not infinitely available in Creativerse for everyone.

Claims

Areas can be claimed and protected by their owners with different settings like disabling fire spreading, corruption spreading or terrain-affecting Explosives.

Traps and Puzzles can be created by using activation devices, trap doors, Block Phasers, Mob Spawners, Loot Spawners, SR-NOR latches with Logic Circuits, Sensors, Number Pads, Pressure Plates, Switches/Levers and much more like that.

Background Lore

Hints to the background story of the Creativerse universe with a slight touch of Science Fiction (Arctek technology) can be found in the shape of rare journal Notes and Data Chips in randomly spawning Treasure Chests together with other findings like rare crafting recipes, equipment, pet accessories and useful materials.

F2P and the "Pro" upgrade
Creativerse Pro DLC

Creativerse is for free for an unlimited time and without any level restrictions. No money has to be spent to enjoy the majority of game content. The optional purchasable offers do not influence the gaming progress noticeably, cannot provide you with stronger weapons, are not necessary to build Blueprints (Blueprints are customizable in order to use free blocks) and are not required to unlock any actually game-relevant features.

The ingame Store mainly allures players with fancy looking blocks, objects (like furniture) that can be crafted additionally to the large free basic assortment of crafts, and Costumes that can be used in order to customize player characters (Costumes cannot be crafted and are account-bound).

The majority of crafting recipes in the crafting menu has to be unlocked before they can be used - either by gathering specific resources in the game world for free, or by crafting or obtaining other items first.
